Meeting Meghan

What a wonderful time I had tonight!  I had the pleasure to meet a blogger whom I've admired for quite a while -- Meghan of Meg's Ragged Edge.

Sometimes you have an intuition that a person is special and I got that feeling about Meghan from reading her blog.   Meeting her in person, I learned that my gut was right.  Meghan is charming, smart and cute as a kitten.

Our conversation was one of the best I've ever had.  We dove into soulful topics with shared enthusiasm.  Meghan's candor and intelligence were breathtaking.  At several points, I pinched myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming.  Her company is entertaining to a degree I haven't seen in years.

Because most of our discussion concerned personal stuff, I'm not going to reveal any details here; coincidentally, we pondered the complex issue of much to disclose about our lives online.  That contemplation was fruitful and I learned from her perspective.

I was surprised to discover that I'm the first blogger whom Meghan has met in person.  Her initial apprehension disappeared quickly as we launched into fun and fascinating conversation.

To create the opportunity for this meetup, I left work early and drove 150 miles south.  I'm so glad I did.  Meeting Meghan was so worth the journey.

Are there bloggers you want to meet in person?  What's holding you back?

  1. Wooo! Congrats, I'm so glad your meet-up went well. Meghan is such a cool person.

I'm always happy (and a little jealous) when I hear two of my blogger buds get to meet each other. I'd be happy to meet anyone who's blog I read frequently, but I'm still looking forward to meeting you, Sheila, and Lynne (again!). The only thing holding me back is location, location, location (and money).

  3. What a wonderful meetup! I'm glad you had the opportunity!

I'm blessed to have met some wonderful local blogger buddies, but there are quite a few I'd love to meet who live no where near me and the money to travel is definitely holding me back. Someday.

Of course, I've met you and Megan Mae, and would love to meet other bloggers and friends.

  8. What a great thing- to combine an online connection into a real friendship- I imagine Meghan was pretty inspired in meeting you, too, Ally!

I want to meet Judith, The Style Crone! Others on the list include Vix The Vintage Vixen and Desiree from Pull Up Your Socks! Someday, I plan to do a blogger tour- a cross country travel and stop and meet my bloggy friends. How great would that be? My budget prevents this from happening now- but I've got great ambitions and will figure out a way to make that happen! You are on the list!

  9. I'm so happy you had such a great meet-up with darling Meg:)). I just want to give her the biggest hug every time I read one of her posts. Hubby and I have a plan that one day we'd like to fly to San Francisco, then drive up the coast at our leisure - I'd love to take a detour to visit darling Krista of Peetee's Palace, then nip in to Seattle and see Bella Q, The Citizen Rosebud and Liz of Glitter for All. Final destination, Vancouver and Melanie of Vintage Coconut! Thanks for this lovely post:) xo

  10. How absolutely wonderful. It's not everyday (by a long shot) that one encounters a soul that they instantly connect with deeply and whom you sense will be a dear friend for a long time to come.

There are quite a few bloggers I'd love to meet in person one day, too, but they all live in other provinces, or more often, different countries. There's something lovely to the thought though, that should I ever find myself in such places, there might be a familiar face to meet up with there.

  11. This is so cool!!! There are several bloggers I'd love to meet in person and a few that have turned into life friends (that I've yet to meet face to face). I can only imagine how crazy, weird yet really awesome this must have been for you two. :) Happy you got to meet and happy that you shared it!

  12. I would love to meet up with some of my favorite bloggers in person. I'm also interested in how much personal info people share on their blogs. I try to be open, but I never want to veer into TMI territory.

    1. Bloggers vary in that, depending on their comfort level and what they're trying to accomplish with their blogs.

  13. There are a TON of bloggers I'd love to meet in person! But distance is usually an issue. Several of them live in Canada, and one special lady lives near NYC ;) I fully intend to make the visit to both Toronto and the Big Apple for a meetup someday, though... And I did get the chance to meet one cool blogger when she moved from Texas right into my city. How awesome is that?

  15. Haha, how great! Part of me would love to meet up with my best blogging buddies (especially Gracey, Laura of Ruby Bastille, Katie of Interrobangs Anonymous, and Rebekah of Jaunty Dame), but even for the more spacially-accessible folks, my social anxiety holds me back. I met up with some (non-blogging) online friends when I went to Minneapolis last year, and I almost had a panic attack waiting for them to pick me up! It's something I want to work on, though, so maybe someday...
