The bloggers are Megan and Lynne. Megan's blog is called MMD which she says stands for "Megan Mae Daily"; I kid her and say it means "Megan of Mass Destruction."
Megan is a young woman with extraordinary creative vision. She sews buttonflowers, OBI belts and wears eclectic, colorful fare. Her style is distinctive and rare, which makes visiting her blog a constant pleasure. Megan is a sweet gal with a heart as big as her brain.
Lynne is an older businesswoman who is friends with Megan. Lynne puts together distinguished outfits that are both work-appropriate and stylish. Off-duty, her clothes show a hidden streak of whimsy.
Despite living very far apart (Megan is in Tennessee and Lynne is in North Carolina), the two got together recently for a blogger meetup. Lynne wrote about it here. While they were together, they did what bloggers do -- go shopping! Megan & Lynne checked out some thrift-stores and found a cache of good stuff.
Yesterday, I received a package in the mail. Ripping it open like a kid at Christmas, I discovered gifts! Megan and Lynne picked out clothes and jewelry for me while they were shopping together. Isn't that nice?!
They gave me a top and skirt in my favorite new color (orange), along with a bushel of jewelry. Pictures of both are below.
When people recognize my true self with an act like this, it touches my heart. I'm deeply grateful to Megan and Lynne for their friendship and generosity. I hope you'll visit their blogs and see what wonderful women they are.
OMG! I am the first commenter, and you look absolutely amazing! I'ma quit my job and force Megan into a personal shopper partnership with me!
ReplyDeleteYour figure is so terrific. I. Am. Jealous.
P.S. Everything we personally shop for will be used :P
ReplyDeleteP.P.S. I'm much meaner than Megan, so I want to be called the Middle-aged Matron of Mass Destruction. Or something like that :P
Ohmygoodness. Right on the mark! Both pieces fit you so great, and I'm personally pleased with how well the blouse fits and how it creates a soft feminine look. I adore the color on you. I think you've really found a flattering shade for yourself.
ReplyDeleteLynne is such a wonderful thrifting partner, we found so much and had a wonderful time. I miss her like crazy! What a wonderful thing blogging does to make our worlds come a little closer.
Also you make me want to rebrand my blog as Megan of Mass Destruction! ;]
DeleteI'm jealous of the figure too...those legs in particular!
ReplyDeleteMegan and Lynne did an outstanding job of choosing an outfit for you. You look sensational! The color of the top and pattern of the skirt is fun, yet polished. This could probably transition to cooler weather with black tights, boots and a cute black leather jacket.
The orange is gorgeous on you...and you hit the jackpot with that care package.
ReplyDeleteI agree that they are both super wonderful ladies! They did a fantastic job picking stuff out for you! I love orange right now too. This outfit looks great and the joy just radiates from your face. Beautiful and inspiring!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely surprise from two lovely women! I count both of them as dear friends and feel so lucky to know them.
ReplyDeleteYou look wonderful in orange, Ally! Great outfit!
They chose well. Those colors are great!

ReplyDeleteThat skirt is GORGEOUS!!! It's so perfect paired with the shirt and pearls too, your friends did some serious style good. Reminds me of a very classy 1950s lady :)

Awww you're so lucky :)
ReplyDeleteand i love that outfit.
I think if I boarded a Pan Am plane I'd have someone as well dressed and distinguished as you as the passenger seating next to me.
What a nice idea.
DeleteYou look great! I love that skirt. I would totally wear this exact outfit out somewhere.
ReplyDeleteWhat great presents, you must be pretty awesome to have such awesome friends ;)
I agree that Megan's blog should be renamed Megan of Mass Destruction! :)
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely. Orange is a really nice color on you (I love orange too!). That was so nice of Megan and Lynne. I love getting unexpected gifts from friends.
Wow, lucky girl! The necklaces are to die for.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping i convey this in the right words to get it across like i mean it ~ This outfit that you're wearing seems so... natural.
I look at the top photo of you standing there in it and i don't see someone who is learning to dress like a woman. I see a lady having her picture taken.
I know your heart and frivolous side is "bebe"- but this looks to me like the you I imagine turning up at work on a Wednesday, like any other day. Not a special occasion. Just you being you. Effortless, everyday you.
You look great in this outfit.
Oh, thank you girlfriend! If I can achieve a natural look -- one that blends in without calling attention to itself -- I'll reach the pinnacle I've always aspired to. To be a normal woman, not a hybrid-freak. Thank you for this comment. It'll buoy me for weeks.
DeleteWhat a sweet thing they did! I think the outfit is wonderful on you!!
