Toesies

My toenails are painted all the time, but I'm bored with red and pink hues.  So I went looking for a new color.  And found one.

Every few months, Kohl's sends me a free $10 gift-card.  Receiving one last week prompted me to visit their store where a new batch of nail-polishes from Elle came in.  Fortuitously, they are $10.  So I walked out with a new bottle of polish that cost me nothing.  Not even tax.

The color is called "Imperial Purple."  Please forgive the pathetic application -- I do the best I can but lack skill in painting my nails.

What nail colors are you sporting this Spring?

  1. very pretty! I'm enjoying corals and tomato reds at the moment. If you want to experiment with colours you should check out the sinful colors collection. Target has it for sure. Each bottle is $1.99.

  2. I love that color. It's very pretty. I'm not a fan of purple so much but this is a lovely berry shade.

Right now I'm into neon. I wore neon pink all last week and am wearing a nearly-neon peach right now. I'm also big into coral and oranges (of course).

  3. I have been SCOURING the shelves for the perfect mint shade, to no avail yet. Essie makes a great one, but they're always sold out when I'm at the store. I'm really feeling pastels this spring, which is quite unusual for me!

  4. Love the purple! I think I have every colour of nail polish! I'm especially fond of Rimmel's 60 Second polish - by the time both feet are done, it's dry!

I have a lovely buttery, creamy yellow that I'm sporting on my toes right now, and a deep emerald green that I'm excited about. I never wear polish on my hands, so my toes are the only part that gets to be fun.

I think you have very nice toes, by the way! My trick with getting a nice polish job is to use a clear base coat, and let it get on the skin and on the edge of the nail (not the underside, though). Then, when I put the polish on, I'm not worried about being "outside the lines" because when the base coat rubs off (usually the next day in the shower), my nails look perfect!

Also, putting a line of polish (on the first coat only) across the top edge of the nail will help stop that whitish "line" where it stops on the main surface of the nail.

  5. I rarely wear nail polish, but I have been seized with the idea of having GOLD toenails this summer. I have actually been on the hunt for a shiny gold.

  6. Great colour! It's nice to try something new apart from the classic reds. :) I do wear purple on my toenails a lot too! I like minty, turquoise-y colours as well, but they look strange on my toes for some reason! I keep those for my fingernails. :)

  7. What an amazing color! Perfect for both toenails and hand nails. I love it! And it was for free, score!

  8. Purple is a great color for your toes! I love funky toe colors because they are usually hidden so people don't judge me for having blue sparkly nails. I'm a big fan of this powder blue color I bought last summer but I've been hunting for a nice turquoise also.

  9. My toes are always sparkly. Sinful Colors has a great silver glittery polish that I use all the time. I used to wear purple/magenta/black in high school, so I'm staying away from it and opting for sparkly or pink! (There's a particular pink shade of that cheap bon-bons polish you see at walmart that is TOTALLY amazing.)

  10. Blush. A timely reminder that I need to take the old chipped nail varnish off and re do my nails.

  11. I haven't painted my toenails since the last prom I went to, which was about this time last year, I usually don't wear shoes that show my toes, so I leave them be. I have been expanding my nail polish collection lately and bought one of those sinful ones Maria up there suggested, a sparkly pink/clear one, but sadly I am a dishwasher for my job currently so most of it chipped off in a day. I have one of each color of the rainbow, so I just do whatever I feel like when I'm doing my nails. My favorite polish for the last year or so is a nice banana yellow :)

  13. I am terrible at manis and pedis, so it's my not-so-secret vice to go to the professionals, especially for pedis since they last forever. Everyone loves it when hubbies and boyfriends and daddies come in for the works; you should try it sometime if you haven't already. The new gels that last for weeks are completely awesome.

  16. Mint!! I am obsessed with mint and have been since last spring, actually. I have mint sunglasses, jeans, shirts, dresses, nail polish. I also enjoy the spruce variations. When I bought my sprucey-minty jeans, the cashier laughed at how much of that color I was wearing already - my shirt, sunglasses, and baby carrier hood. I see Lime Crime is finally bringing back Mint to Be lipstick soon. I've been waiting forever!
