My old vinyl turntable has a cord attached to a rotating knob that spins the table at 33 rpm or 45 rpm. Lately the cord's been slipping from one speed to the other.
Thus, putting on a record I can't be sure whether I'm gonna hear "The Way We Were" sung by Barbra Streisand or Alvin the Chipmunk. It's kind of a metaphor for my life right now...
Oh, wow. I've always been amazed when I see a vinyl. I want to buy one.
ReplyDeleteSlipping, is it any easy repair Ally?
ReplyDeleteNot really. I'll probably just replace the whole turntable. They're not expensive if you shop right. (U-Turn Audio is superb.)
DeleteSlipping, oh dear. Is it easy to fix Ally?

DeleteHaha!!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry, pressed send too soon!! I'm laughing at getting Alvin as an alternative. We recently House and cat sat for a blog friend and she had a amazing vinyl collection and turntable. We loved it!
ReplyDeleteCool! How much did you have to pay her to stay there? :)
DeleteHa! We didn't! She asked for insta-friend volunteers and I volunteered! We loved being temporary cat custodians even if that miaow can cut through the deepest of sleep. Her yowlarmclock and subsequent tummy treading, if we (me!) didn't feed her instantly, was unrelenting!
DeleteI've recently replaced my cd compact hifi with a hifi separates system, with an amp, cd player and for the first in years, a turntable. I've loved getting my old vinyl out and playing it again. And I'm even buying second hand and new vinyl reissues. I've missed playing my old records.
