Spring Arrival

I like places when they're empty. I'll brave cold for solitude.

Old Westbury Gardens opened yesterday. Normally crowded in Summer, it was pleasantly deserted today. Of course flowers haven't bloomed yet but its many sculptures flashed eternal smiles.

Best of all, I picked out a door for my future playhouse. :)

  1. What a marvellous place, Ally! I too love to visit places out of season, when they're virtually devoid of people! xxx

  2. Very dreamy and magical place. It can have its own unique beauty even without flower blooms. I still keep wanting to go to Cheekwood here in Nash (similar to Longwood gardens). Alas, my three attempts have all been foiled so far.

  3. This is so amazing - Ally, you have such a great eye for composition and balance in your pictures. I love the one of the path between the trees. Perfect perspective.

  4. What an extraordinarily beautiful setting. Like yourself, I too generally favour solitude and don't mind duking it out with extreme weather conditions to experience such.

May you have a serene, sunny, safe, and very happy April, my friend!

  5. Oooh how pretty! I'm trying to get outside more now that Wisconsin seems to have let go of winter. I'm finding the outdoors to be very calming for me.

  6. I think when places like these are empty, you get to really experience them and soak 'em in!

  7. That would be an excellent door! I agree about it being lovely when places are deserted- definitely worth the effort.
