Hi guys. Thought you deserve an update since I've been absent lately.

I had two house-guests recently to whom I devoted my full attention. Combined with work and a bout of stomach flu, I was unable to blog the past two weeks. That'll change as work winds down next week and I feel better physically.

Exciting things to report: I found a cute holiday dress I hope to wear soon. It's a traditional style usually worn by little girls: burgundy velvet with a lace collar. Saw it in a thrift-shop and want to create a childhood I never had. Peplum at the waist makes it a little more adult-y.

Second, I'm flying down to Atlanta between Christmas and New Year's to visit my close friend Jen. I've known Jen for over a decade and blogged about my last visit with her. Jen is the kindest, most supportive friend in the world. I just talked her into going on a helicopter ride so we'll see her city from the air. Have you ever been up in a helicopter? It's great fun. Not scary at all since the flight is soft and smooth.

Finally, Bitcoin! Have you been following it? The price has jumped dramatically and keeps going up. At this rate, I'll be able to retire earlier than I planned and enjoy my future more. Plus, when I cash out, I'll be making big gifts to my friends to share the wealth and improve their lives. That's how I roll...

  1. Lovely to get an update, and I cannot wait to see your holiday dress. Sounds very promising! Have a wonderful Christmas and do enjoy your visit with your friend in Atlanta. xxx

  2. Sorry to hear you’ve been sick. Hope you are on the mend soon. How fun that you’ve been able to enjoy the company of some friends lately. That is always nice around the holidays. :)

  3. Oh no, I hope you’re feeling better! And work has a bad habit of getting in the way of the fun stuff. I can relate to that... For the past few weeks I’ve been hardly sleeping (too much work) and haven’t had time for anything (friends, blogs, hobbies, whatever...). I’m taking some time off now to restore my sanity (if possible) and recharge my energy (totally depleted).
Get some rest, and indulge in some fun stuff. Looking forward to seeing the outfit!

  4. I was starting to get worried about you! I sent you off an email yesterday. I hope you got it.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. At this time of the year getting sick is tough.

I hope you were still able to enjoy your house guests.

My first helicopter ride was with a photographer from Stern magazine. A German magazine. I met him when I was waitressing and he took me for a helicopter ride with the doors off so he could get photos of the area he was shooting. It was fabulous!

The second time was the Grand Canyon and I highly recommend it.

Can't wait to see the new outfit.

    1. Thanks, Suzanne. I don't check e-mail on weekends so I'll read it tomorrow.

  5. So good to hear from you, Ally! Thank you so much for the Christmas card! I love it. :)

I've been in a helicopter once, to fly to Vancouver. It was exciting but loud! Have a lovely holiday, and much hugs and affection to you for a happy and healthy(ier) festive season! I can't wait to see your dress!

    1. Yes, the loudness surprised me. You're sitting right next to a powerful engine. Holiday wishes to you as well!

  6. Dear Ally ( I nearly wrote Abby:),
Thanks so much for the Christmas card. My boys love it! And me too of course.
I hope your health improves soon, and you enjoy your restful and exciting Christmas break.
I was missing you. Love the sound of the dress!
    Xo Jazzy Jack

  7. Hope you are feeling better! Sounds like you have fun plans :)

  8. I hope you are feeling better. I was just at the doctor and I think that the meds he gave me helped.
I look forward to seeing your new dress. Yesterday was a dress up and cook day so after hitting the food store I was dressed in hose, heels, makeup, etc. and did the slicing and dicing needed to put together a great Portuguese fish stew. I think the key ingredient was a bulb of diced fennel.

    Merry Christmas.

  9. Hope now you are doing good, take care of your health cause you have to visit to your friend . No i never tried helicopter ride, but would like to do once. Enjoy your holidays with good health.

  10. The holiday dress sounds lovely. Velvet is one of my favourites during the holidays. I have not gotten into bitcoin yet but a few family members have. Life is so busy at the moment, but I wanted to say thanks very much for always stopping by my blog. (hugs)
Happy Holidays to you buddy! /Madison :)

  11. I'm so sorry you have been unwell Ally- you work very hard at your job I am sure and you need your energy and good health. I hope you enjoyed your guests though. How nice you will get to see Jen! Hurrah! Scary with the helicopter ride- I am a glorifed wuss when it comes to things like that!
Your new dress sounds aaaaaaaaaaaaaamazing! I found a little gir's one in a charity shop once and bought it for nostalgia- aaaaaaaaaaaaaalmost managed to fit into it!
What are bitcoins? I have very little knowledge of current affairs and things like that as I don't really read, listen to or watch the news! Whatever, I am glad that you are doing well out of them! You deserve to be able to retire early!
Incidentally wishing you a very merry Christmas Ally cat!x

  12. Well I am certainly happy to see you're back. Hope you are fully recovered so you can show off that dress.
