Wearing Woodstock

Earlier this Summer, I visited Woodstock, site of the legendary rock concert (1969). The charming little town has lots of Sixties clothing and memorabilia. Visiting it was a walk down memory-lane for me. I remember that period -- I was a child in the Sixties, if not a child of the Sixties.

While in Woodstock, I bought a beautiful hand-made dress which I showed you here. I also picked up a cute purple tie-dyed skirt. Tie-dyeing was huge back then and most of us did it ourselves. It's an appealingly-simple process. Even kids can do it.

I wasn't sure how to show off my pretty new skirt so I decided to draw attention to it by keeping the rest of the outfit simple. And Sixties-ish. How's it look?

  1. Ah yes. I believe that we are of the same vintage. I still have a real weakness for tie dye. And your skirt is to "dye" for. Now can we talk macrame?

  2. you are right, keeping the rest simple. But adding the little scarf is just what it needed. The finishing touch.
Melanie gave me a tie dye top. My husband said: there is a stain on your shirt. ... (he had never heard of tie dye). The dry cleaners even called me up before cleaning it. To say there were lots of stains in my top ...hahaha

  3. I'm iffy on tie dye. I hate the multi color tie dye look, but I don't mind it if it's kept to one or two colors, like your skirt here. Definitely loving the white tee with the skirt! May I suggest some fun brown sandal wedges instead of the white stockings and ballet slippers?

    1. You are so right -- and you read my mind. I have a pair of brown sandal wedges that I was planning to wear with this skirt. At the last minute, I put them aside which was a mistake; they not only looked better but were more in tune with the period. Thanks for the smart suggestion, Ashley.

  4. I'm not normally into tie dye, but your skirt looks like a big abstract floral pattern and I dig it. I like your idea with the little neck scarf as well. It gives you a cute classic feminine vibe, which might be why I thought 'floral' instead of 'hippie'. ;D

    1. I was aiming for floral femininity, not hippie, so I guess I hit the target.

  5. Yes, I can't help but luv anything tie dye, I'm a 60's babe. And purple! I mean, purple was the it color, man. Where's your beads? You know, apple seed beads, or indian seed beads...

  6. I too love the 60's fashions and this is a great of-the-period skirt. The neck scarf, while classic, makes the look modern too. xo

  9. It's a pretty skirt, and I think you were right to keep the rest of the outfit simple. It let's the skirt be the focus of attention, and a skirt that pretty certainly deserves that.
