Thanks to the Internet, I have friends around the world. Literally. My friend Lynn lives in South Africa which is really far from New York.
Despite the distance, Lynn is very kind to me. Lynn has a blog, as does her sister Wendy who also lives in South Africa and is a good friend of mine (blog).
For my birthday, Lynn sent me a handmade card (how cool is that?!) and a pretty necklace. The necklace looks regal and makes me feel like a Queen. Also, the sentiment behind it is as important to me as the object itself.
Do you ever give jewelry as a gift?
Handmade gifts are the best. Especially a card or handwritten note. As far as jewelry, I love to give and receive it. When buying jewelry I usually buy it with the specific individual in mind and a reason behind it (i.e., birthstone, etc). Heather
ReplyDeleteWow, what a gorgeous necklace! So very thoughtful and special indeed! I have given jewelry as a gift, I try to put thought into what I pick out and it usually has some sort of special meaning.
ReplyDeleteLove it !! Looks stunning :)

That's so pretty! The only person I've ever given jewelry to is my mom. She's the only one whose style I know well enough to confidently pick out something she'll like, haha!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous necklace. I like the postage from other countries almost better than the contents of the package. Yay, eBay! lol
ReplyDeleteI give jewelry as gifts all the time, if I feel like I have a good sense of a friend's style.
The necklace is lovely. I rarely give jewelry or perfume as gifts as a personal rule. Like others have said, I consider those gifts to be personal. I may pass on a piece of jewelry I don't wear, but I rarely actively pick anything out unless I really know someone's style.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderfully elegant and timelessly pretty. Pearls are a favourite of mine, too, and one I'd always be happy to give or receive.

Gorgeous necklace--so timeless and elegant!!
ReplyDeleteI like to give jewelry if i know the person--often vintage or something i've made!
Lovely necklace!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful gift!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous gorgeous necklace! ! ! :-)
ReplyDeleteAwww ... thats stunning and yes, I do give jewellery as gifts.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful necklace!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that things are starting to get better for you over in NY. I've had a chance to read up, and listen to your story here on the blog about what you saw/experienced with the power and the fallen trees, and it's just heartbreaking. From the news and Twitter I know that Sandy caused a lot of heartache. I'm so glad that you're okay!
I hope that you had wonderful birthday celebrations in spite of it.
That necklace is so beautiful!
great necklace! perfect match with this hairdo!

Awwww!! I love it! You look like perfection :)
ReplyDeleteLovely necklace. I don't usually give jewelry as a gift, but now that I'm a Lia Sophia advisor I probably will!
ReplyDeleteLast Christmas my mother and sister both bought me necklaces. When I opened the one from my sister, I was disappointed -it was SO not me, especially in comparison to the one my mother got me - it was so me I was almost convinced I already owned it (I didn't). However, I've found that the one that my sister got me has actually received more wears than the other. Not sure whether my tastes have changed or whether I just like a challenge!
ReplyDeleteI am delighted that you like the necklace ~ You look gorgeous!!!!
ReplyDeleteRegal is right! How lovely and thoughtful. I do give jewelry as a gift if I spot something perfect for someone. I am always amazed by how well my mother knows my taste - she's given me some of my favourite pieces which are so precious to me.
