Sassy

I like to explore the full range of women's fashion and, hopefully, through it some of the experiences of being female.  After recently experimenting with the prim schoolmarm look, I'm now heading in the opposite direction.

This outfit grew from a kernel.  I was walking in the mall and noticed some incredible colored, patterned tights.  The tights alone inspired me to create an outfit.  I built around them, showcasing their sassy appeal.  I added a dress of complementary color, shoes that don't distract attention and jewelry for polish.

Do you ever build outfits around one piece?

  1. Yes, one piece can inspire a whole outfit. Love that you kept the colors similar in the dress and tights for a long line without breaking up the overall look. Great necklace too!

    1. Thanks, buddy. I also often feel the urge to toss on everything, but I end up looking like Phyllis Diller. (If that's too old a reference for you, I end up looking like Sunday brunch buffet after the crowd attacked it.)

  8. Definitely - today's blue shoes have inspired SEVERAL built-around outfits that I always look forward to wearing. :)

I'm really struck by your wonderfully intentional approach to exploring the full range of women's fashion. Also, that vibrant colour is lovely on you!

  9. Oooh, I love this color on you head to toe! I can see how you got started with those tights. I think starting from one great piece that's special is a great way to build an outfit.

  10. Wowza fabulous tights. Almost every outfit is built around one piece I want to wear. Though on occasion, like mouse, I toss on everything I want to wear all at once. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Tights are definitely a favorite starting place for outfit building. I can't wait until it cools down enough for me to start pulling my tights out.

  12. Where did you find those tights? I can't ever find anything but black textured tights in my size. Drives me crazy!

And yes, great outfit. Love the color and think the tights will also be great with an all black outfit. Gosh but I love tights!

  14. I like how you're experimenting with different ways of expressing your femininity. Today is Hot Mama day! Those tights are gorgeous and match the dress perfectly. The necklace is outstanding as well. I will often let one piece, and it could be anything, be the catalyst for the rest of the outfit. Sometimes it's even hair, like I need to wear it up or put on a hat because it's just not working. That can dictate what I chose to wear.

  15. The bitch (me) is baaaaack! Hiya hun!

The hip ruffles are cute. And I want your legs. It's just not fair. I was just mentioning the photo of your legs in a tutu and heels on your motorcycle when talking with Freeda the other day. *sigh*

  18. What a photo! (the first one). Your legs are amazing! I am a big tights fan and sometimes start from them when picking an outfit. My favourite pace in London for hosiery is Harrods, they have the best range of colours and finishes. Spendy, but lovely :-)
