Halting In Halter

In the male world, there are no clothes with a halter-top.  So, when I tried a halter-top for the first time, it felt odd.  I'd never had clothes hang on me like that before.

Last night, I was walking through Kohls and a pretty dress caught my eye.  Its colorful print attracted me like a moth.  I circled around it, then decided I had to go back and look.  The closer I got, the more I liked the dress.

I returned to the store today and picked it up.  It was on sale for $23 which my budget can absorb.  I like the halter-top feature and the dress suits my style.  To enhance it, I added a feathery hair-piece and new orange lipstick (brighter than my first orange lippy).

What do you think?

  1. Oh I just love it!!! The dress itself truly looks wonderful on you, and I think the way you completed the look with that beautiful feather headpiece and matching lip color is just divine.

I'm so happy that you've embraced the halter top, and that you love incorporating the style into your wardrobe!! I still reserve halter tops for bathing suits - because I am shy about my arms/shoulders - but you are inspiring me to finally give them a try off the beach!!! It's such a beautiful look.

    Happy weekend to you dear!!!

  2. Loving that lenght on you and those colors, they give you a fresh glow. Halter shape dresses can be tricky, but you nailed it

  3. Great find! I am loving your color choices lately. Orange-y shades are very complementary to your skin tone. I love the geometric roses. I'm usually half/half on floral prints, but I really like this one.

Halter tops for me have always been a "no", but only because I hate things on my neck. I end up tossing scarves and necklaces into my purse mid day (unless it's really cold and I am outside, therefore scarf needs for winter). Halter tops always created a bad pressure for me on my neck. I love the look of them and still occasionally try one on and hope for the best. I guess you'll just have to rock the halter look for me ;)

(Also re: your comment- You're pretty cool yourself. I really wish I didn't live in Bumf*@#, Nowhere and could hang out with my blog friends in real life!)

  5. It looks great! I feel strange in halter tops too, I hardly wear them because the weather doesn't often allow for it...

  6. Look at you, what a cute halter dress. Very springy print too. I like halter tops as long as you have the right bra. The feather headpiece is a nice touch.

  7. You have the nicest shoulders. Halters are a tricky thing and i think you nailed it. I also like the feather accent, is so very chic.

  9. Love it! Pink and orange is one of my favorite color combos. I really like halter tops. Like V-neck shirts, I feel like it elongates my neck--and showing off some cleavage is always a good thing. :)

  11. It looks awesome on you! I love the vivid print and the black accents. The feather and the lipstick are perfect.

I love halter styles because they harness the boobs well (ha!) and they show off my back tattoos, but I have issues with them because they require a special bra.

  12. I think the colours look wonderful with your skin tone, and I've always had a bit of a soft spot for halters, although i don't own any apart from my bikini. I also really like the pink hairpiece.

  15. You have killer legs! They look great in this dress. I don't usually like halters because they make my already-wide shoulders look even wider, but sometimes I can pull them off without looking too masculine. It's a very cute dress :)

  16. I think you bought a terrific dress. Tall peeps with broad shoulders can rock halter dresses and bold prints; you're runway ready. I love the hair piece as the only accessory; you let the dress shine and resisted the temptation (many of us succumb to it) to add unnecessary bling.

  17. Halters are very flattering on you. How is it possible that it makes you more feminine but me more masculine?
