Styling such a dress, most people would tone down the contrast. I, however, went the other way. When confronted with something unusual, I double-down on its weirdness. Be bold! Confidence always helps an outfit.
Thus, I added green tights, purple flats and (a first for me) purple eyeshadow. I have a green jade cuff-bracelet that I thought would help, so I dug it out and added it to the mix.
What do you think? Does this color-combo work?
Such a pretty dress! I really adore the color combination. It's very classy and demure. I think this dress will be perfect is winter with tights and a sweater. You look lovely!
ReplyDeleteI like the green tights with it! Great colour mix!
ReplyDeleteWhy wouldn't these colours go together? Think about purple flowers with green stems and leaves! Whenever you're in doubt whether colours will mix, think about how they occur in nature. Nature rarely does bad colour combinations. :)
Eee! Yes, green and purple is one of my favorite combinations. I used to wear it all the time, but not as often these days. I should wear it more because you're spot on - it looks great. I also like the cut of this dress. It's very flattering on you. I think you're doing better at picking things that are both fun and flattering.
ReplyDeleteI don't think purple and green is an odd combo at all. I especially like the purple eye shadow and am very fond of jade myself!
ReplyDeleteDoubling-down on the weirdness is the only way to go! I love that last pose and think purple & green go great together. I figure if it's a combination found in nature, it works without questions.
ReplyDeleteYes, it works! It's perfectly gorgeous and terribly flattering. I like the purple eyeshadow - makes your eyes pop in these photos.
ReplyDeleteCompletely ladylike, which I love. But perhaps a little more "fall"? The dark jewel tones are so beautiful on you, though. I really love this look!
ReplyDeleteMy outfits are often out-of-synch with the season. Since I don't wear them in public, that isn't a problem. Just imagine it's fall!
Deletethat dress looks great onyou.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful dress! You could totally make this work for summer, too, with bare legs or capri leggings and sandals!
ReplyDeleteI think the dress looks awesome - the color combo totally works!

Yep, this works :)
ReplyDeleteI am surprised at certain unexpected colors that match- and sometimes colors that i THOUGHT did not match now do... like burgundy and pink.
I like that last picture !
Hi Shy B, purple and green go great together. I also like it when both are pastel shades. Some fashion bloggers would say it's too matchy matchy with the tights and shoes. I've been accused of this in the past. However, you said you like to double down on the color combo, so more power to you!
ReplyDeleteYour criticism is valid. I like to break rules, however, to see what happens. Thanks for the feedback.
DeletePurple and green are my favorite colors, especially together. The dress looks wonderful on you! Also since your eyes are brown (I believe) purple is one of the colors you wear to make them pop!
ReplyDeleteAnd, since I'm a total Harry Potter nerd, I have to throw this in there. Did you know that wizards wear purple and green in combination to identify each other when in muggle dress? :)
No, I didn't! Thanks for the info. And yes, my eyes are brown.
DeleteCool dress! Purple and green rule!
ReplyDeleteI actually love that combination. It looks amazing and funky and bold, but not shocking. Good choices. FWIW, coming from someone like me. :-)
