When Do The Holidays End?

Okay, the holidays are over.  :-(

When is the right time to take down your Christmas tree?  And your Christmas lights?  Your holiday decorations?

After New Year's?  February?  When the dried-out tree catches fire?

Oh, and did you do any post-holiday shopping?  I went browsing, innocently with no intent to buy,  and stumbled across some items that were irresistable, especially at large discount.  I now have material for several posts.

    Friends of us once had their Christmas tree till Easter...
    Shopping after the holidays is the best. Bompard and Brora start their Sales this week, so I'm very attempted to buy a cashmere sweater or cardi.
    In cute colors, of course.

    Oh I don't know the answer to these question! But I did indulge in post-holiday shopping and got some good deals! Eeeee :D

    Happy New Year and may 2012 be a beautiful year for you!! Around the 6th is the right time to take down your decorations. Please do not leave the tree up until it is so dry that it becomes a fire hazard!!! LOL!!! Discounted shopping after the holidays is good ~ as long as you are going to use and love the items that you buy. It is also a good time to get Christmas decorations at a fraction of the normal price.

    Happy New Year! I think in the past the holiday season went on until the 6th... (something about the 12 days of Christmas comes to mind) My family usually takes down the decorations by then.

    The saddest time of the year is when we have to take down the Christmas tree. I hate that part. I always spend about 20 minutes saying goodbye to it before we start taking off the ornaments.

    The tradition in Greece is to take down your holiday decorations and tree after St. John's day (7th of January). I'm immune to shopping! It happens.. really! Many kisses dear!

    I'm not normally a post-holiday shopper but I stopped at the Mall during one of my days off last week and so did EVERYONE ELSE. It was packed. I felt a little overwhelmed. We stopped in at Forever 21 but the place was a hot mess and I left without buying anything.
    Also our tree generally goes down around New Years, except that it is still up right now...

    We both shopped after Christmas and scored a few items. The clearance/sale areas weren't that great though. The Christmas tree is down and organizing and cleaning as now commenced :) Can't wait to see your new goodies!

    The holidays never ever end. As soon as one holiday passes, the stores put up the decorations for the next one--sometimes months in advance!

    For me, I like to pack up the Christmas stuff before January 1. I like starting the new year fresh without "visual clutter" from the last holiday.

    According to my family, we take down the tree right after New Year's. My grandmother likes Christmas and her birthday is the 1st, so we leave them up until then. But the in-laws I don't really know. It's one of those "when it gets done" things.

    I went and spent my giftcards - Old Navy and Victoria Secret. I came out with four tops, a bra, and a pair of cotton undies (but they're sparkly!). Unfortunately, the only other shopping I could afford was to buy my school books. Boo! I did get a good deal on them at least.

    Very true- I find the discounts are larger post-holidays and the crowds are smaller. Always a plus. Happy New Year!

    My mom and I have taken down our tree on Christmas before. L-O-L. We usually take everything down the day after. I'd say right about meow should be the cut off. Our tree is still up at work and it's going to start irking me soon.

    My tree or lights nothing went up this year.
    In regards to shopping, i realized i have so many new unworn items that i am considering a shopping ban.
