I love Halloween. My partner Robin isn't fond of it so I have to coax her into joining the fun. When I pick the right costume for her, she gets in the mood and enjoys herself.
I just found great characters for the two of us. (I love complementary couple-costumes.)
This year, we're going to be Ralph and Alice Kramden! From "The Honeymooners," of course. It's a classic 1950's TV show with Jackie Gleason as blustery blowhard Ralph Kramden and Audrey Meadows as his saner, smarter wife Alice. They're visually recognizeable, so people will immediately grasp who we are.
Now I just have to fight with Robin over who gets to wear which costume... :)
Nice!
ReplyDeleteMy ex of many, many years ago had lovely long black hair (down to his waist). I really wanted us to be Sonny and Cher for Hallowe'en one year (him Cher, me Sonny), but he wouldn't do it.
Aww... that's too bad; it was a great idea.
ReplyDeleteive never seen the honeymooners...im going to see if i can find an episode online...lol
ReplyDeleteIsabel, you're making me feel old!
ReplyDeleteThis show is a classic and has been playing endlessly on TV since 1955. It's very funny and worth searching out.
"Now I just have to fight with Robin over who gets to wear which costume"
ReplyDeleteI totally was thinking that!
Last year, I wanted to be Bonnie & Clyde with my boyfriend, but he was being a poop so we both went as something completely generic...I wore some slutty, over-priced costume that I bought at 4 p.m. Halloween evening. Never again.
You definitely need to post your Halloween pics when the time comes! If your lady friend is down with that, of course.
And...I just read your comment and couldn't tell if you were being facetious or not about the Ashley vest. For realz?
I'm with Isabel. Sorry! I've heard of them, but wouldn't recognize them. Good luck deciding. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your comments of late. It's so nice having followers who actually say stuff. Especially when it's such nice stuff.
My friend and I are going as Pocahantas and John Smith, but he wants to be Pocahantas. I did not argue.
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!! I love these costumes, you have the best ideas! lol I hope you guys are both happy with the costumes and you better post pics!
ReplyDeleteI think it would be fun if you were Alice! Now that I've found your new home, I can check it out more!
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing acouple episodes. So funny! I love halloween too. Not sure what I'm doing this year. Oh yeah I bought a long skirt today while thrifting thanks to you! Have a great one!

You guys should totally switch: she can be the guy, you can be the girl - how fun! I remember one time Mark and I showed up to a party in cross-gender outfits. He was wearing my long, green dress and I was in pants with my hair slicked back. And this is the best part about living in NYC: NOBODY SAID ANYTHING. !
ReplyDeleteyaay I love halloween! xx
ReplyDeleteLaToya, I've never been a fashion-influence before: you're making feel proud!
ReplyDeleteOhh, I hope you post photos of this! This is one of the best '50s shows!
ReplyDeleteHello. I'm Robin. And I just want it on the record--I said I'd do the Honeymooner Halloween ONLY IF I could be Ralph. I love Ralph. I always want to be like Ralph. He's as lovely as you think he is. Lovelier, actually. He's the greatest, sweetheart!
