Trying On A Long Skirt

I've never really worn a long skirt, but friends encourage me to try one. They say long skirts are very feminine and would add proportion to my body-shape.

So... I saw this suede skirt last week in a thrift-store. It was expensive new but, due to a tiny liquid-stain on the top of it (which is concealed), it was marked down to only $4. The skirt is a gorgeous shade of green and made of a thick, rich suede material.

I paired it with a new, shiny top that appeals to me because of the drooping neckline. The outfit looks elegant enough for me to wear my dangling earrings. I've owned the yellow strappy sandals forever and love the flowers on them.

What do you think?

  1. YAY!!! Love the new blog!!! as you said with mine, the big photos are so so much better - now we can see all the details.

Also LOVE this outfit! It looks lovely and sophiscated on you. Your style really is changing and getting better and better each post (although that is a very subjective comment - I mean it in the best way possible though :) )

  2. Thanks, Stel: I believe and hope you're right.

My ability to create outfits is growing with practice and I put a lot of thought into them. This learning-process is one of the most enjoyable experiences I've ever had, particularly since I can share it with wonderful new friends -- like you!

  3. Nice! Congrats on the move: I've found blogspot to be very easy to use. I've used LJ before, and Wordpress (and B2...and Greymatter...man, I've been on the internet a long time), but I think Blogspot might be my favorite.

And, I think this is my favorite outfit from you ever! The colors are SPOT on. It gives me an autumn-vibe, too, for some reason, which is good since, after all, it IS autumn. The skirt is great and I LOVE that top!

  6. Thanks, Ashley and Sara. Your feedback reinforces what I'm coming to realize: that going beyond my normal fashion-choices is valuable exploration. Some things, like long skirts, work for me when I never thought they would. That's so rewarding!

  14. I LOVE this outfit. It's my favorite one yet. I'm not a clothes person. I mean, I wear clothes. I'm just not particular. Much of that is probably because I work from home and virtually live in shorts, t-shirts, flannel pants, sweats, etc.
