Blah Blah Blah

Are you tired of me yet?  Do I annoy you by going on and on about myself?

Actually, I worry about that and have always been cautious not to overstay my welcome.  IRL, people think I'm very quiet, even shy, because of my reticence.  Partly, it is because most people can't handle who I really am and partly because I don't want to bore strangers.

So it's a delight to be ASKED questions!  I like sharing and, given the opportunity, will tell you my life story, my parents' life story, my dog's life story...

Carrie, a graduate student in Hawaii, just tagged me with the Liebster Award and invited me to answer questions.  Carrie's blog is almost a year old and displays her interesting take on fashion.  Take a look on your coffee break.

Here we go with the questions...

1. If you could invite any 5 people (living or dead, real or fictional) to do something, who would it be? And what would you do?

I'd invite five blogger-friends -- including YOU! -- to come over my house, show off our fancy outfits, sip drinks, eat hors d'oeuvres, chat about our lives and get to know each other better.  At the end of the evening, we'd realize how much we like each other and pledge to do it again.

2. Coffee or tea? Or neither?

Both.  I love the flavor of coffee but can't drink more than a cup a day or my heart races.  So after savoring one cup, I switch to tea and drink 5-6 big cups of strong black tea.  At night, I'll sip green tea.

3. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, it would be ...

Ooh... tough question.  It would have to be cheese.  I love cheese.

4. A bad habit you have ...

Caring too much about what others think.  Worrying about it all the time.

5. A good habit you have ...

Being brave.  Facing my fears and overcoming them through sheer effort of will.

6. You can't resist ...

Wanting to be close to people.  Learning about their lives, their hopes and their ideas.  People fascinate me.

7. If you could go back in time and tell your younger self one thing, it would be ...

Stop worrying about life.  It will unfold naturally and, even when you can't predict how, everything manages to work out okay.

8. Something that made you happy today was ...

Reading other blogs.  That always makes me smile like a fool.

9. One book you haven't read but have always wanted to is ...

The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe.

10.You have $50 to spend on yourself. What would you do/buy?

A pretty dress!  With ruffles and bright colors and feminine design.

Thanks for listening!  If any of these questions appeal to you, tell us your answer.

  2. I love cheese too! I can't get enough of it and would live on it if I could! And I also share your bad habit - I always worry about what others think! I'm such a people pleaser. Fun read Ally, I enjoyed learning more about you!

  3. I never get tired of reading about you! So don't worry about it :) It is interesting to hear that you get nervous about what others think. I can understand that to a point, I mean, I personally worry about hurting someone's feelings, so people-pleasing often happens to me and can get stressful. However, I think at some point I learned that I really have no shame. One way to get into this mindset? Do something that would normally be emabrassing. For me, it was karaoke. I CAN'T sing, but I started going with a few friends and people don't care that you can't sing as long as you are having fun. I also have a habit of talking to strangers, befriending people all of the time-waitresses & waiters, you name it. Some people will always be rude to you, I have had my share, but letting go of being worried about what others think can be fun. I think you should try it :) Hell, I mean, you took pics in a tutu, riding a motorcyle, you are awesome!

  5. I have to just say how much I love your introduction into the questions. I couldn't have described myself any better than your paragraph that starts with "Actually." And, I still worry too much about what others think but you know what? This blogging has helped that. Instead of admiring the things I love about other people, like how brave and confident they are, I'm learning to absorb some of that up for myself. And I've also discovered how much easier it is to compliment others and be open to them now.
I sort of sensed that you and I had some personality similarities and sensitivities, even more now!
There's a quote out there written by someone I can't remember their name, but it goes something like this:

"I am a part of all whom I have met."

Have a great weekend and I hope you find that 50.00 dress for 3.00 at a thrift store. ;)

    1. Yes, Joni, we are alike in the best of ways. I'm glad to hear blogging has been as helpful to you as it's been to me. And the quotation is true.

  6. Joni's quote is from Tennyson. :)

I never get tired of reading about you! Don't be shy about writing about yourself. People will come and people will go, so enjoy this on a personal basis.

    I love cheese too!

  9. Never stop posting, I totally agree with mouse - we come here for YOU! I know I worry about posting too much or oversharing or talking only about myself - but I too like learning about people, learning new things from those people, and keeping in touch with my friends.

I'm the same way about coffee. I love it, but I kind of screwed up my system as a teen by knocking back energy drinks. I get chest pains now if I have too much caffeine.

  11. I totally agree on #1. As much fun as it would be to meet and greet with a celeb - I mostly want to meet bloggers I love and get to know them IRL and on a more personal level - a behind the blog type thing. It would be so fabulous!

and I have to say - i LOVE the picture you posted. it says so much to me after reading your blog for that past six months or so. just shows your diverse personality and interests. i absolutely love it!

It would be great to just meet bloggers and hang out. We all have so much in common after all :)

  13. Oh, I loved the Electric Koolaid Acid Test, mostly because I was a great fan of Ken's Kesey's novels.

  14. Thanks for participating! It was great to hear your answers. I love your answer to question 1 - what fun! :) I think if I could pick only one food, cheese would definitely be in the running. ... and I'm a fan of black tea as well.

  15. If I filled this out, most of my answers would be exactly the same. A friend of mine posted a picture of Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test on her Instagram last week, and I've been intrigued by it since then. Maybe I can find a copy while thrifting.
