I love the shape of the dress. The flare of its skirt and its extra-panels. (What are they called again?) Best of all, the material is elastic. Stretch is my friend. It allows conventional clothes to fit on my unconventional body.
Last month, I picked up a sparkly belt at a thrift-store, I didn't know what to wear it with but I trusted something would come along. And it did. The belt is perfect for this dress, don't you think?
Do you ever buy an item not knowing how it will fit into a future outfit but having faith it will? That's a cardinal rule of female-shopping I've learned through experience. Nothing beats experience.
Now I just need a party. Can I come over? I'll bring wine, cheese and try to look pretty...
Good choice! Fit & flare dresses were all I bought for a while. So comfy and forgiving. Stretch is EVERYONE'S friend, amirite?
ReplyDeleteCute pin too btw.
Yup!
DeleteWhat a fabulous dress on you, Ally! I love it! Yes, come on over, let me open a bottle of wine and put some cheese out!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit! It fits you perfectly. Who needs a party? You are the party.
ReplyDeleteBTW...can I just say I'm in love with your flower brooch. Is it vintage? It looks like it. I picked up a couple when I was last in BC that were similar to this. They are collector's items.
Home run in this ensemble.

I totally buy things not knowing exactly how they will be incorporated into future outfits!!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a party dress! That cut is perfect!

Oh such a fun party frock for sure! And yes I have done this, there have been a couple of misses but for the most part it works out.

*PS* The panels in the skirt portion of the dress are called gores.
Welcome home, Jessica!
DeleteGorgeous and your styling is great!
ReplyDeleteThis dress is perfection! I adore the sparkle belt too, you did find the perfect dress to match it with! I wanna go shopping with you, I think we could clear out a thrift store just the two of us, just sayin'
ReplyDeleteI agree!
DeleteTotally fun! I think they're called gores or godettes? Either way, there's the joy of thrifting, finding something magical that eventually finds its way into the perfect outfit
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit late, but just trying to catch up on a few blogs this morning. What a perfect LBD! The belt does work great with it. Oh, and love the hair. xo
ReplyDeleteYou're never too late to say such nice things! Thanks, Lisa.
