Sunday Follies

I'm heading out to Brooklyn to do something I've never done before -- have someone else take my picture! All the photos on my blog are taken by me with a remote shutter-release. As many of you know, simultaneously being a model, photographer, lighting assistant and wardrobe stylist is hard!

Today, my friend Michi is performing the duties of photographer. Michi is talented with a camera and she also draws beautiful illustrations, such as the one below which she gave me as a gift. Michi recently offered to take my picture in her photography studio and I leap at the chance. We'll use props and I'm bringing two new outfits. It'll be fun!

Have you ever had someone talented take your picture?

  1. No I haven't been so lucky. Sounds like a great opportunity and loads of fun. I can't wait to see the results!

    I love her illustration too.

    You've got some talented friends.

    1. Me, neither! It feels strange not being the one loading photos from the camera to my computer. Michi is doing all the hard work.

  5. What a cool opportunity! I have worked with one or two photographers and it's amazing. The quality of the pictures is impressive when someone has great equipment and really knows what they're doing. Fun :)

  8. I hope you enjoyed the experience. Did you come away with anything regarding posing or camera positioning that you didn't know before?

Looking forward to seeing your pics!

    1. Yup, very much so. Michi has personal experience as both a model and photographer (and woman) so she gave me a series of pointers and suggestions (and demonstrated many herself unconsciously). It was a big learning experience for me, an episode of personal growth. I feel serenely happy, too.

  10. Aw, that illustration is so beautiful! I've had a couple of friend hobbyists take pictures for my blog, but not in a while. Mostly it's just me and the timer these days.

  11. I hope you and MIchi had lots of fun and I'm looking forward to seeing the photos. What a great drawing! Do you have it framed and hanging in your home? I hope so. Other than a prefessional engagement photo taken many many years ago, and the photos that were taken of me at school, the only photos of me taken by other people are the horrible kind family takes where I am usually talking and gesticulating and in poor lighting etc. Generally I do not like photos of myself including most of the ones I take for my blog with the tripod and timer. I always think your photos look great! xo

  12. Oh yes, my Brother is a Professional Photographer so I was Blessed to have someone in the Fam who could take Beautiful Images of us all. I also once had some Glamour Shots done with one of my Daughters and that was such Fun and I looked so Glamorous I couldn't even believe it was me! The Daughter at the time was only Twelve and they made her look so Stunning tho' that it was kinda scary... she's still a Beauty to this day, but to see her looking so Gorgeous at a tender age was intimidating as a Parent!
