I need two things. First, a satin dress in a pretty shade of purple, pink or blue. Strapless and elegant. With a built-in petticoat. Fortunately, I found one today. At a thrift-store for $14.
Next, I need a party. An occasion to twirl and pose, preen and primp. A chance to display my feminine wiles.
Where, oh where is my invitation?? Have you seen it?
Well don't you look beautiful!! What a find and I think you've chosen great items to accompany it. You just need a little silver clutch bag to go with it to hold in your hands. X
ReplyDeleteI thought the same thing! I don't have one and need to buy one.
DeleteWhat a lovely dress! Yes, a little metallic clutch would be just the thing.
ReplyDeleteI want to do you makeup for the fancy ball!
ReplyDeletePlease!
DeleteLovely dress, Ally. I like the color and style very much. It is beautifully demure and feminine.
ReplyDeleteI just finished writing a post about buying clothes to help shape our lives that I'll be posting tomorrow : )
ReplyDeleteIf you got another petticoat, bigger, fluffier so that it really makes the dress stand away from your body,(fit and flare style) like a princess dress and it would make you look even more feminine.
Gorgeous colour and sheen with your dark hair.
bisous

Yes. I realized that after the photoshoot. I do have other petticoats that can perform that shaping magic.
Deleteum, that dress is AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. The metallic sheen on this dress is great! I'm sure it's even prettier in person.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all your lovely blog comments lately btw. They always make me smile!
Lisa.
This dress is beautiful! What an amazing find! Let's throw a ball!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a strikingly beautiful dress! I love the sheen and how it catches the light like a diamond. Fabulous thrift store find, dear Ally. What a great dress to usher in New Year with - it speaks volumes starry, wide eyed sense of wonder and optimism we so often have when January begins (and hopefully retain throughout the year).

Love that shiny dress, I would definitely call it my princess dress :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun dress! The colour is so subtle, but looks great on you. I would do masses of pearl necklaces with it, and I like Suzanne's idea of a poufy underskirt with it.
ReplyDeleteThe hue is richer and deeper in person. The lights drown it a bit.
Deletethat has cinderella all over it! love.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the color so much!! I want to go to a fancy ball too!
ReplyDeleteThat is a super special dress you found Ally ... Perfect for a ball.
ReplyDeleteHolding thumbs that you find somewhere to wear it to!!!
I'm just gonna say that Mardi Gras is a great occasion for that opportunity! First, no one will bat an eyelash if you get all dressed up during the day and wander around beautifully appointed. Second, there are a few alternative carnival krewes that have formal events where this would be absolutely appropriate and lovely as can be.
ReplyDeleteI love that color on you; it's gorgeous with your hair!
ReplyDeleteDon't buy a clutch, Ally. I'll send you one as soon as I get unpacked and can find it... Hopefully not much longer.
Please!!
DeleteThat's a pretty dress.
ReplyDeleteI guess you're gonna have to host the party!
I have always thought of hosting a "formal" party at home.
Good idea. I'll go to yours and you can come to mine. :-)
DeleteI'm throwing a Mardi Gras ballb next month! Come get your twirl on with us!
ReplyDeleteThat dress - SWOON!!! I know you said the color is deeper in person, but it looks almost iridescent here, and it's gorgeous either way. A true princess dress. You look beautiful.
