Big Girls Rule

I have friends who are big and small.  In fact, I have girlfriends who are really big and really small.  Friends come in all sizes.

A nice thing about big gals is we can share clothes.  If you're a size 12 or less, I'll never fit into your clothes.  I dress with the big girls.  (That sounds like a biker boast; perhaps we should start our own Big Girl Club and wear "colors" to scare people.)

The reason I mention this is because yesterday I received a package in the mail.  From Hollie.  Hollie is a Big Girl.  She's one of our charter members.  Hollie swaggers when she walks and little girls shrink in terror at her approach.

Just kidding.  Hollie is really a sweet woman.  Proof of that is this -- Hollie has a glamorous gown she wore once to a fancy occasion but has had little use for it since.  Contemplating who might benefit from the gown, Hollie thought of me.  Me!  I'm proud to be a big girl, especially if it gets me pretty clothes.

Here is Hollie's gown, with Ally touches.  What do you think?

  3. That is such a gorgeous gown Ally and looks stunning on you!

I wish I could share my clothes with you really but the things I would give to my girlfriends are all too small for me .. some of them would be size 6 or even 4 I think in your measurments .. I dont know anyone who would fit them and am wondering who I can possibly give them to.

  12. Allie! This is lovely! Definitely you with the little hat, hehe. Too cute! I feel you with the sizing though. People tend to want to give me their old clothes (because it's me) and I have such a hard time with fit. I have a big butt and no boobs to speak of. Isn't it great when something fits perfectly though? This dress is a fine example!

  13. So classy! I think the bodice suits you so well. Great job on the fascinator! They really need to be more common. :D

  15. Lucky you! Plus I love the necklace you chose. The bodice is so flattering in contrast to the big circle skirt.

The hat is of course the icing on the cake.

  16. How fantastic!! I think whether you are big or small, it definitely pays to have friends in your size.

After finding out Aya is close to my size with some minor differences (similar to blog-sis Lynne!) I've sent her a second big box of clothes that don't quite suit me, but might work on her differently proportioned, but same-size frame!!

You ROCK that gown. It's got an old hollywood vibe I feel like. Very 50s glamour.

  17. Cute! The hat really makes it. It's wonderful how much you share clothes with other bloggers, and how generous you all are. (Gracey has sent me a couple of items and I'm just blown away by her kindness each time.)

  18. I'm in love with your fascinator - brilliant! A full skirt is a very uplifting and twirly piece of joy any time.

I seriously wish I was taller and a bit more substantial. But alas, I'ma shrimp. Can we start a sister club for shrimpy girls? lol

  21. Ooh! Nice! I love how big gals can rock clothes so well. Especially in a society obsessed with small, we seem to forget how individuals of all sizes can look stylish, classy and gorgeous.
