A Cure For The Blues

I believe bright colors can lift our spirits.  They worked their magic tonight.

Yesterday, while sitting at a stop sign in Gina, a distracted driver plowed into my rear, pushing me forward about five feet and crumpling my bumper.  I'm okay but Gina will need a little cosmetic surgery.  The experience made me blue today.

Then I remembered a cute colorful top I bought last week at a thrift-store.  I built an outfit around the top and doing that elevated my mood.  I added a green skirt from my collection and popped on some new neon-colored bracelets.  Pretty flats from Payless seemed appropriate.  And orange lipstick fit the color-scheme.

Here is the outfit.  It made me happy which is a lot for clothes to do.  What do you think?

  2. That is awful. I hope your neck isn't sore now.

These bright colours remind me it would be nice to be on a beach somewhere tropical right now sipping on a fancy schmancy fresh fruit based cocktail with a baby umbrella in it, a warm breeze blowing over the ocean and the smell of coconut oil in the air. Ahhhhh….. that made me exhale. Thanks for this little mind break : )

That top has a very cool 1970's vibe going on.

    1. Glad to give you a vacation. I can't help evoking the 70's 'cause that's MY decade. The time I formed myself and my taste.

  4. I'm sooooo terribly sorry to hear about Gina, but I'm sure glad you're okay. Gina will be too... with the help of a good reconstructive surgeon.
You look absolutely beautiful and radiant in these colors. I love all of the pieces you chose for this outfit. The floral flats are darling.

  5. It's true, darling. Bother about the accident, as long as you weren't injured, anything else is secondary, but I do hope you can get Gina back on the road. X

  7. I was bummed to hear about your accident! (but glad to figure you were okay, since you were posting about it.) I hope Gina is perfect again and back to you soon.

In the meantime, I really like that top on you. It's gorgeous and I love the open shoulders and those multiple straps.

    1. The unusual shoulder straps really appeals to me. I've never worn anything like this before and it has panache.

    1. It wasn't until I started wearing women's clothes that I realized so much about color. You had a head-start on me, Sheila. :-)

  9. Thats one cute top and looks awesome with the straight style of the skirt. You look vibrant.. so great especially for this grey weather. I know what you mean.. this rain right now is not very motivating and thus I have been a bad girl and skipped a few outdoor workouts of late :) I like having a bad edge though so its all good. .rawr . heh heh

    1. Thanks. Your comment about the skirt makes me feel good because I initially planned to pair the top with a multi-colored skirt that flared and it would have been a big mistake. The top is so dramatic; a skirt shouldn't compete with it. And, yes, you do have a bad edge!

  15. Oh no! So sorry to hear about your car--what a bummer. Isn't it funny how styling an outfit can be therapeutic? I sometimes look at it as a cross between a painting and a puzzle. You have to figure out how to make the pieces work in a way that's aesthetically pleasing. This outfit nails it...you're making me crave spring like crazy!

  22. I am so glad you and Gina are going to be okay! You did well with this outfit, it is bright and reminds me of summer! You always know just how to style yourself and wear things that are very you. I wish that you could take the ladies I work with out, "What not to wear" style, and show then your blog to let them know how it is done! Because sweatpants really should never be worn in an office.

  29. Ohno! The important part is you are okay.

I always reach for the brightest brights when I need to cheer myself up. Love the peek-a-boo shoulders of that blouse! And I love your selfie!

  30. Did ya hear that? I just whistled ;)

You're looking gorgeous in this outfit! Those definitely are happy colors. It's actually something I would wear...a bandage skirt with a flowy feminine top.

And I'm glad you are okay! Car accidents are super scary. Is Gina your bike? My Mustang's name is Billie. I really like it when people name their vehicles.

PS. Thanks for your comments :) Especially on "Almost Boyish." I never felt feminine growing up because people would always criticize my "boyish" frame. So I always kind of assumed I looked masculine in everything I'd wear...even if it was super girly. Gosh...that comment made my day! <3
