Yesterday, while sitting at a stop sign in Gina, a distracted driver plowed into my rear, pushing me forward about five feet and crumpling my bumper. I'm okay but Gina will need a little cosmetic surgery. The experience made me blue today.
Then I remembered a cute colorful top I bought last week at a thrift-store. I built an outfit around the top and doing that elevated my mood. I added a green skirt from my collection and popped on some new neon-colored bracelets. Pretty flats from Payless seemed appropriate. And orange lipstick fit the color-scheme.
Here is the outfit. It made me happy which is a lot for clothes to do. What do you think?
Oh my goodness! Are you okay? I'm so sorry to hear about Gina; hopefully they'll be able to return her to gorgeous self.
ReplyDeleteThat is awful. I hope your neck isn't sore now.
ReplyDeleteThese bright colours remind me it would be nice to be on a beach somewhere tropical right now sipping on a fancy schmancy fresh fruit based cocktail with a baby umbrella in it, a warm breeze blowing over the ocean and the smell of coconut oil in the air. Ahhhhh….. that made me exhale. Thanks for this little mind break : )
That top has a very cool 1970's vibe going on.
bisous

Glad to give you a vacation. I can't help evoking the 70's 'cause that's MY decade. The time I formed myself and my taste.
DeleteI'm so glad that you are alright! I'm glad that your bright colors are lifting your spirits. Poor Gina. :-( I love this top, it's so colorful and fun, and I really really love your bracelets! Take care, buddy!
ReplyDeleteI'm sooooo terribly sorry to hear about Gina, but I'm sure glad you're okay. Gina will be too... with the help of a good reconstructive surgeon.
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely beautiful and radiant in these colors. I love all of the pieces you chose for this outfit. The floral flats are darling.
It's true, darling. Bother about the accident, as long as you weren't injured, anything else is secondary, but I do hope you can get Gina back on the road. X
ReplyDeleteNO! Poor Gina! And poor you! But you look as delicious as tutti fruiti!
ReplyDeleteI was bummed to hear about your accident! (but glad to figure you were okay, since you were posting about it.) I hope Gina is perfect again and back to you soon.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, I really like that top on you. It's gorgeous and I love the open shoulders and those multiple straps.
The unusual shoulder straps really appeals to me. I've never worn anything like this before and it has panache.
DeleteSo sorry to hear about Gina! I hope she will be right as rain soon! I love your bright top - you are completely right: when I wear brights I always feel better.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't until I started wearing women's clothes that I realized so much about color. You had a head-start on me, Sheila. :-)
DeleteThats one cute top and looks awesome with the straight style of the skirt. You look vibrant.. so great especially for this grey weather. I know what you mean.. this rain right now is not very motivating and thus I have been a bad girl and skipped a few outdoor workouts of late :) I like having a bad edge though so its all good. .rawr . heh heh
ReplyDeleteThanks. Your comment about the skirt makes me feel good because I initially planned to pair the top with a multi-colored skirt that flared and it would have been a big mistake. The top is so dramatic; a skirt shouldn't compete with it. And, yes, you do have a bad edge!
DeleteThat's one happy outfit! Love the colours, you know that. Glad you're safe!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear from you, dimi!!
Deleteas long as you are ok, phew! but what a fright! and you are right, bright colours are the best, I feel like a neon light at the moment, everyone seems to be drenched in black/grey here x x x
ReplyDeleteWe neon lights need to brighten up those around us.
DeleteOh poor Gina, glad that your ok!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute outfit!
Oh no poor Gina - glad you are ok, hope you're not too achy now it's a few hours ago. What a shame :(
ReplyDeleteLove the brightly coloured outfit though - I agree, something bright can definitely help cheer someone up.
Amazing look!
ReplyDeleteLove the stripes!

Oh no! So sorry to hear about your car--what a bummer. Isn't it funny how styling an outfit can be therapeutic? I sometimes look at it as a cross between a painting and a puzzle. You have to figure out how to make the pieces work in a way that's aesthetically pleasing. This outfit nails it...you're making me crave spring like crazy!
ReplyDeletePoor Gina! I'm so glad you are ok though - that is the most important thing! I always wear bright colors when I need a pick me up. This is a great look. Hugs and hopes that getting Gina's surgery isn't too expensive for you!
ReplyDeletei´m happy that you are o.k. :-) hope your car will be fixed soon.
ReplyDeletelove the whole outfit - that top is just cute, would wear that too! with shorts at a beach in corsica.........*dream*
since one week we did´t see the sun, even at noon we need to switch on the lights in the house. your colorful photos did lift my mood :-)
You cured my blues! And you look worthy of a coffee/brunch date with Carrie Bradshaw. Which is a high compliment in my book. Yes, I know she isn't real...lol.
ReplyDeleteCrap that sucked, sorry to hear about Gina.
ReplyDeleteBut its material stuff, you were not hurt and you were able to created a nice outfit. I particularly like the shoes...
Sorry to hear about that but I love the fact you can lift your mood up yourself!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day,
-Kati
Sorry to hear about Gina!! Thankfully you're ok and she can be fixed!!
ReplyDeleteLOVING this bright cheerful outfit!! Perfect for a grey gloomy day!!
I am so glad you and Gina are going to be okay! You did well with this outfit, it is bright and reminds me of summer! You always know just how to style yourself and wear things that are very you. I wish that you could take the ladies I work with out, "What not to wear" style, and show then your blog to let them know how it is done! Because sweatpants really should never be worn in an office.
ReplyDeleteEek! Are you OK? Poor Gina. :( I've been getting all my shoes at Payless lately. They have such cute candy colored flats.
ReplyDeleteOh my I am terrible sorry Ally. Hope you are OK? Poor Gina. You look beautiful in your bright outfit. The color of the skirt is awesome and the top is incredible.
ReplyDeletehugs to you

I LOVE you in bright colors. Always so uplifting to see your happy smile, too!
ReplyDeleteOhno! The important part is you are okay.
ReplyDeleteI always reach for the brightest brights when I need to cheer myself up. Love the peek-a-boo shoulders of that blouse! And I love your selfie!
Did ya hear that? I just whistled ;)
ReplyDeleteYou're looking gorgeous in this outfit! Those definitely are happy colors. It's actually something I would wear...a bandage skirt with a flowy feminine top.
And I'm glad you are okay! Car accidents are super scary. Is Gina your bike? My Mustang's name is Billie. I really like it when people name their vehicles.
PS. Thanks for your comments :) Especially on "Almost Boyish." I never felt feminine growing up because people would always criticize my "boyish" frame. So I always kind of assumed I looked masculine in everything I'd wear...even if it was super girly. Gosh...that comment made my day! <3
*blushing* Thanks for the whistle, buddy. Gina is my car.
DeleteAww..So sorry someone hit you! That sucks!
ReplyDeleteI love the outfit though. I'm EXTREMELY partial to bright colors. :)
So sorry to hear about Gina ~ Hope you are OK!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is one super cute outfit ... the colours sure are happy and you look gorgeous in it!!! Wishing you a spectacular weekend!
Oh I'm sorry about the accident and poor Gina, but you would never guess it with you in this bright and happy outfit! What a great thing to do for yourself to give you a pick-me-up after a crappy day!
