Before I even touched it, I just knew. It has a perfect design. And a wonderful print. Best of all, it's made of a stretchy material that accommodates my quirky shape.
Certainly, this is a simple dress. Some might say an unglamorous one. But that's its charm. The dress is "normal" and not some extreme fashion only a runway model would wear. It is a dress for ME.
In all my excitement about showing it to you, the hardest thing to figure out was how to present the dress. To accessorize it without distraction. To enhance the dress but not overwhelm it.
I decided to add black fishnet stockings (from Selina) which maintain the color-scheme while adding a tiny bit of pizzazz. I included colorful bracelets, also from Selina, and cute gold hoop earrings from Finnley Mae. And a necklace from my growing collection.
This is what I came up with. What do you think? Any suggestions?
Do you have any clothes you love? Absolutely love?
Hurrah! Flashy Ally has arrived! I like the anklet idea too. You are rocking those accessories!
ReplyDeleteOh and I have too many clothes I love. Maybe I'll keep that for a blog post sometime soon :P
ReplyDeleteVery pretty dress, I love polka dots.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dress which highlights those amazing legs so well.
ReplyDeleteIf you had to wear it without the stockings you could try some black leggings ... or if you were feeling funky some neon coloured ones which would also highlight your legs.
I am still dying to see you with a short flicky type hairstyle (Halle Berry wore hers like that and I think it would suit you down to the ground!).
Love that dress! :)
ReplyDeleteThat dress is adorable, and I love the red necklace with it. I also like Lynn's idea of wearing it with colored leggings. I'm not a fan of ballet flats myself, but this dress would like great with them and a little cardi. So may possibilities!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing? My black and tan stretchy pencil skirt - I'll be wearing it today with leggings for a long drive. It's so comfy!
This look is so totally you! And that's awesome. Not everyone is meant to be crazy runway styled. I love the fishnets with the dress.
ReplyDeleteI think my brown flat strappy Trippens suit me perfectly. I wish I could say any piece of clothing was perfect for me, but I'm a shoe girl. It always comes back to shoes for me.
too cute! Wonderful fit!
ReplyDeleteAlly I love this! Polka dots are the best! You paired it nicely with the necklace and fishnets!! So fun!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I'm pretty crazy about black and white, I also love polka dots, and I personally know the value of that particular silhouette on a fairly straight figure. You're rocking it. :)
ReplyDeleteYou have SUCH shapely legs!!! This dress is really cute and I like the simplicity of your accessories, though I might have added a very thin red belt to it if I'd been wearing it!x
ReplyDeleteVery cute, very you! I love everyday fav dresses! I have a couple and I consider them my go-tos.
ReplyDeleteBecky :)

Here is my weblog ... cheap desks
I love that dress Ally, it's something that I would go for when I do bother to dress up. Though not so short!! My chubby thighs cant get away with that. I'd maybe put on a skinny red belt with it.
ReplyDeleteDresses that are normal-length for average-sized women are short on me because of my height. This dress would probably look great on you.
DeleteLovely, and your smile says it all! I also like the leggings /coloured leggings suggestion and a high coloured belt.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! And I really love that you put the red necklace with it!

ReplyDeleteYou naughty girl with a bracelet on your ankle ... love your spunk!! Mwah
Sweet! Love that this dress is your soulmate, but you can have more than one soulmate when it comes to dresses, right? :)
ReplyDeletePolka dotted dresses are so versatile and you look so happy and pretty in these pictures, the red really pops! You know what I'd pair the dress with? Coloured tights (red or bright blue!)
ReplyDeleteWhat's not to love about polka dots on a cute dress!
ReplyDeleteI have a little black dress I absolutely love. Sometimes the simple, classic pieces are the best ones. I also have a tan blazer that's really high quality and lasted me almost 7 years.
ReplyDeleteThis is a flattering silhouette so I can see why you love this dress, It's a cheerful pattern I love, and you look great in it! :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous.
ReplyDeleteI have just seen a lovely sketch of you at Ann´s.
XXXXXXXXXXXX
it's lovely indeed! suits you so well and I love how short it is (I would open up a little fan club of your legs here).
ReplyDeleteperfect size of dots
Yup. That is a perfect dress- simple yet memorable- and versatile. I can see the dilemna : there are so many good ways to wear the dress, how do you present it for its grand debut?
ReplyDeleteGreat dress! Finding those simple, versatile, perfect pieces is the best :)
ReplyDeleteThe anklet is a beautiful touch, as is the red necklace. I think you did a great job in choosing accessories that accentuate but don't overwhelm.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to add something polka-dotted to my closet for a while, and seeing you in your perfect dress reminds me to keep my eyes peeled at the thrift store for my own perfect dotted piece! :)
This is absolutely stunning, you are glowing. Polka dots are always so fun and feminine. I also love the perfect contrast of the red necklace.
ReplyDeleteI do have clothes that I absolutely love. I have my "lucky dress" and my new high waist jeans. =] I feel so confident and sassy in my jeans and then I feel the epitome of feminine in the dress and good things tend to happen when I wear it. =]
i love the big cocktail ring, and a bit of red is always nice with b/w. nicely done...and i love the sketch!
