I picked up this casual white dress for $8 at Kohl's, simply to have something comfy to wear while Debbie applied makeup at The Prom Project event. Surprisingly, the dress turned out to be better than just comfy; it's actually cute. The cut and fabric suit me perfectly. As a result, I've elevated the dress to outfit-material.
I added some pieces of red jewelry to bring out the color in the dress and have fun. In Summer, you want to be lighthearted and not work too hard at fashion. This outfit does that.
What do you think?
It is rather very cute ... and summery! :) May be a little bigger hat would look better but over all very cute look!

You are great at accessorizing- the necklace adds just enough colour and the dress is so flirty and feminine!
ReplyDeleteI think it's fun! The print is soft and sweet. It's very girly. Unapologetically so. I think another way the dress would be great is if you traded out the red necklace for red heels... maybe a heeled sandal since the print and colors are so spring/summer.
ReplyDeletei LOVE the dress! its very cute :)
ReplyDeleteUber cute! I Love a white dress!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that dress! Kohls is one of my Fave shops! You look So Cute!
ReplyDeleteI think you're right! If it were me, I probably wouldn't even wear the necklace since it's summer and it would make me sticky and hot. But I'm not too big on accessorizing anyway...
ReplyDeleteAwww, adorable! I really like the big hat idea with this!
ReplyDeleteNice dress.
ReplyDeleteIndeed an outfit-worthy dress, and what a bargain! I like the jewelry - it looks like rose petals from afar, which my inner fairytale-princess eternally stuck at age 11 approves of - but since it isn't actual rose petals it's rather massive and might work better with something less breezy. I think for an even more summery look & feel I'd have gone with very fragile silver jewelry, or a small red silk scarf (or even textile jewelry, I've heard it's a trend) and open-toed sandals.
ReplyDeleteI agree, one needs to have some formative power other than sewing over one's wardrobe. I have indeed been buying some few new things even during the year of my shopping ban - but only if they were heavily discounted or I really needed them, and then only after lots of consideration. I've found that works relatively well for me since my budget is currently very small.
Cheers,
poet
I love that dress!! Perfect for hot summer days! I agree with Poet on that - maybe the necklace is a bit "heavy" against the lightness of the dress... and you should definitely try open-toed flat shoes, they're so comfortable and liberating! The hat is a very nice touch! Cute :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a cute dress and love that necklace.

8 dollars! geez! I cant even buy lunch for that price!
ReplyDeletegreat find and great buy!
The dress is adorable, but I would swap out the heavy jewelry for more delicate pieces to go with the scale of the print.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great suggestions, guys. I learn so much from you. I threw this outfit together in minutes and, obviously, it can be improved. I like when you teach me how. I use your lessons in future choices.
ReplyDeleteLoving the dress. I agree with Ashley, in that I tend to not accessorize (or so very light items) during the summer... the jewellery can just become hot & uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you have a great smile. I really like the PINK lipstick! It reminds me of my Lime Crime, Centrifushia. So vibrant and fun.
love that necklace
ReplyDeletethrow on a pair of cute red flats next time for a new look

You look like a southern belle with the hat on!
ReplyDeleteOkay, red & white are PERFECT for summer! This would be an amazing outfit to wear to the cherry festival in Traverse city MI! Just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteLove that dress and want it! Who is the maker? I need to order that. It has the right amount of sweetly sexy that I just love.
ReplyDeleteWell played!
That dress is so pretty...red and white in summer is always a win - Would go with less chunky, maybe a string of smallish red and white beads - oh and flat red pumps would be lovely or sandals with a small wedge type heel...Lots of love
ReplyDeleteThe dress is from Selena Gomez's "Dream Out Loud" collection.
ReplyDeletethat's a sweet dress! The hat fits so wonderful on it :)

This is really pretty on you! I love the wide V-neck - it's really a good neckine for you.
ReplyDeleteAwesome shoes!
My fave is the one of you in the hat!! It's the perfect ensemble for that garden tea party we're all gonna have someday. :)
ReplyDeleteThe perfect summer dress! I like it with the necklace too... I am terrible at remembering to accesorize!
