First Ride

In New York, the first ride of the year is always cold. I went out today to take advantage of melting snow since next week will bring more white stuff.

You might think winter weather is dangerous but cold and potholes are not as hazardous as bad motorists: while I was out, an inattentive SUV-driver drifted into my lane and nearly hit me due to her distracted driving. That's something I have to deal with all year-round.

  1. I am glad you got out for a spin! A brisk cruise sounds fabulous. I hear you- distracted drivers scare me to pieces. Glad you have a helmet! Enjoy the weekend! Wasn’t it nice to have a 59 degree day even though it rained?

  2. Awesome picture of you and your bike, Ally! I'm an avowed pedestrian and I'm still nearly hit by cars every day. Drivers are the worst!

    1. Tell me about it. I walk to the Post Office every day from my office and I frequently almost get hit by cars ON THE SIDEWALK. Drivers are so impatient they drive on the sidewalk to pass slower vehicles.

  3. Gorgeous photo Ally ... So glad you got a chance to go out for a ride even though it was cold.

It is really sad to see how distracted people are behind the wheel of a car ... yesterday on the highway a car drifted in front of me going 120km/h and when I passed the person was on their cell phone!!!

    1. I was the first to watch that show. I have friends in real-life who belong to outlaw gangs.

  6. I've always said that defensive driving is the most important, especially on a bike. Most people aren't looking for bikers.

You are a real addict when you get out even in the cold.

  7. I'm glad to hear you got to take that awesome bike of yours for a spin, and I absolutely love that photo of you! Bad motorists and distracted drivers are a universal problem. As a pedestrian, I meet my fair share of them on a daily basis. Keep safe, Ally! xxx

    1. Thanks. Put the camera on my glove on the ground and used the self-timer. While shivering something fierce.

  8. Oooof, I see this all the time. So many distracted drivers and it's incredibly scary for our two-wheeled friends. Stay safe out there, buddy! Hope you are enjoying the rides (and staying bundled!).
