There are some colors that men don't wear. Ever. They couldn't even if they wanted to because no men's clothing is made in these hues.
I was shopping at my favorite retro-style store and saw a skirt that's delightful. And full of colors I've never worn in my life. Breaking new ground, I wore the skirt today with a matching shirt, both in colors no man (including me) has ever worn.
It's fun and rewarding to expand our horizons. These colors, once off-limits to me, are now part of my palette. I'll choose them again, given the chance.
What do you think?
Hey, my husband wears shirts in both of those pinks (and aqua, and lavender and all shades of purple, yellow, green), so totally not true! However, I do get what you mean, Ally - welcome to pink! I love the pattern on this skirt, and it's a great cut on you (the fullness makes your waist look small). Love this!
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky to have such an adventurous guy!
DeleteHa! My husband also wears pink, purple and magenta.
ReplyDeleteI think Sheila and my husband are metrosexuals. They aren't afraid of any colours or patterns.
One of my husband's favourite ties has pink elephants on it, bought while we were in NYC at Thomas Pink (appropriately).
You did a great job here. That skirt is just adorable. I love the whimsical pattern. It's so cute! You look positively radiant.
I just bought a couple of crinoline's from Amazon to take photos of some of my vintage pieces and just had the thought that a crinoline under this skirt would be so much fun. Do you own one? They create such a fabulous feminine figure and they come in a rainbow of different colours.

You two have exceptional hubbies.
DeleteI own three petticoats and you're right: one would enhance this outfit by creating even more of a feminine figure. I hadn't thought of that: thanks!
I think I'm jealous of that skirt! And I'm LOVING these colors on you!!
ReplyDeleteI've seen pink shirts for men but you're right, you don't often see men wearing them. Apart from Sheila's and Suzanne's husbands, apparently. You are looking radiant in pink! The skirt is absolutely divine, what a great print! xxx
ReplyDeleteI love pink but I never buy it. I don't mean to avoid it; I guess I've just never really found anything I like that comes in pink. But let's talk about that skirt for a minute: I LOVE IT!
ReplyDeletePretty printed skirt!
ReplyDeleteYes, Id' buy it and wear what your wearing in a heartbeat.
I know men that will wear pink shirts, but probably not the skirt's color of pink. What a fun outfit- looks great on you!! :)

That skirt is AMAZING. It's got just the right balance of whimsy! I love seeing you branch out into new experiences and spreading your wings even farther. <3
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jen!
DeleteSo glad you found something so satisfying to your soul dear Ally. Just love that colour and the detail on the skirt!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the deep fuchsia color of the skirt- so pretty!

uhm. Is that a skirt... with ELEPHANTS ON IT?! Yes, please. This. It's adorable. Perfect for spring (and making me crave warmer weather!). Love to see you taking color risks, Ally!
ReplyDeleteAgree with Shelia and Suzanne! One of Jonathan s favorite shirts is in that soft pink.
ReplyDeleteI think men are getting more adventurous color wise as time goes on. I think it's a good thing that there is less divide in girl-boy colors. Love your skirt print!
I like your skirt very much.

I love these colors and agree they are sort of hard to find for anyone. Both men and women. But I am such a fan. The skirt is fabulous both in the color, print, and silhouette!
ReplyDeleteYou were totally rocking this!
