Dream Clothes

While we live in the real-world and shop at normal stores, I sometimes browse offerings at tony establishments like Bergdorf Goodman. Many times their clothes are beautiful art. Sure, we can't afford them but it doesn't cost anything to look.

I just saw this amazing coat. Its design and colors astound me. Notice the fitted silhouette, stylishly off-center buttons, and cool painted accent near the hem. I'd grab it if I had $3,450...

  1. That is one delicious coat. I have dream shoes...Louboutins. Don't know why, I've just always been obsessed.

  2. I've never swooned over a coat...until now. And I second Debbie's comments about the Loubs! I used to say I'd buy myself a basic black pair after I paid off all my debt, but once I achieved that milestone the idea of dropping several hundred dollars on an uncomfortable pair of shoes seemed less appealing, haha.

  3. I love doing this, too. One of my favorite sites is yoox.com because some of their designer stuff can actually be close to affordable. I've gotten multiple purses from there.

  4. I can honestly say that when it comes to clothes that are this expensive I'm very rarely if ever tempted. I always think I could pay for a 10 day vacation to an all exclusive resort with the cash instead.

Although I love the idea of a Hermes Kelly bag I'd never buy it, that would be my one big "lust" item.

  5. This looks like a more artistic version of the pink coat Lorelei wore on Gilmore Girls! It is really lovely, and I am loving pastel statement pieces lately. Your taste is impeccable!

  6. I often wonder if I would ever spend that much on something, even if I could! It is beautiful, and I think if you thrift enough, you'd be able to find something similar!

    1. That's true. In wealthy areas, thrift-stores sometimes carry gems at crazy-low prices.

  7. I agree with two birds. I'm not sure, even if I had the money, I would spend that much. I have purchased expensive shoes (~300 for boots), but I still try to get a sale or clearance, and considering paying $1k+ for anything... well, it better have 2-4 wheels and a motor.

  8. I'd be scared to wear something so expensive! It just says "Spill something down me," but tailored clothes are beautiful!x

  9. My God, this coat is so pretty! I like the clean and sharp cut but man, I wouldn't dare to actually wear it. I guess this is how people with lots of money are different from people with not so much money...

  10. I enjoy fantasy shopping online, but most of the time I feel intimidated going into actual fancy brick-and-mortar-stores, like everyone can tell that I'm too poor to be there. We went to a Barney's in San Francisco looking for a particular brand of jeans for Mike once, and so many of their items were both astonishingly ugly and breathtakingly expensive. I mean, I do love ugly things, so I'm not knocking that. It's just amazing how much cooler "ugly" becomes when it has a high price tag.

  11. Wow! There IS something to be said for expensive clothes though... seems they fit alot better :) And many times crap is just overpriced. What a beautiful coat and I love how tailored it is. If I were rich I'd have someone make custom clothing exactly for my body. That would be a beautiful thing :) One day maybe.. a girl can dream right? :) Happy Friday

  12. Oh, I look at magazines and designer sites and just try to find similar garments.
If I must splurge, bags and accessories are usually my picks. I feel I can get more bang for my buck.

  13. It's undeniably chic, but that is staggeringly expensive for sure. If one has the means, have at 'er, I say, but even if I did, I don't think I could ever bring myself to pay that much for a single garment, save perhaps for something exceedingly rare on the vintage front. Even at a bespoke level, you could have a fair number of pieces made by most average priced tailors/seamstresses for that price. It's sure fun to daydream though and inspiration is free, so it never hurts to window shop online (and indeed, I do it often myself).

    Have a fantastic Friday, Ally!

  14. It's beyond my comprehension to pay that much for clothing but for the people who do it's all relative to their income just like a $4 coffee a couple of times a week doesn't seem too outrageous for my income. I'd like to see that coat on you in a blush pink. xo

  15. Even if I had lots of money I would definitely not spend that much on one item of clothing ... But then for the super rich that would be cheap and if they grew up in money then it is natural for them.
