M&M Weekend

I spent this weekend hobnobbing with Meghan and Megan Mae in Philly.  We had a blast.

On Friday night, we had one of the best meals of my life -- a seven-course tasting feast at a ritzy restaurant. The food was incredible. M&M took pictures of each dish, as is the custom of their generation. I ogled the food without photography, which is the custom of my generation. We savored the dishes and were visibly in culinary ecstasy.

Saturday, I suggested we visit Longwood Gardens which was a smart choice. Four acres of orchids, poppies and amazing flowers. An explosion of colors and fragrances. The perfect setting for conversation. We enjoyed the day and ended it picking out pretty clothes at a consignment store.

It was fun to see through Megan Mae's fresh eyes. For example, this was her first time flying in an airplane so she didn't know the importance of boarding passes. I clued her in to that. Her experiences reminded me of my youth (decades ago).

We took lots of pictures. There are a lot, so I'll show more later in a second post.

Did you have fun this weekend?

  2. It was an amazing trip!! I had so so much fun, and more importantly experienced things that will stay with me for a lifetime. I got home alright!

The plane ride home was a little bumpier than the one there. They changed my gate FOUR times. But I managed to get on the right plane in enough time.

  5. What a fun time you had with friends, flowers and food! I'm with you, I'd rather devour than snap photos. I love the idea of visiting a flower farm this time of year. A real color explosion. Looking forward to more photos.

You also got some wonderful photos.

The biggest tasting meal I ever did was 11 courses. I could never get through that now.

  15. How splendidly fun! You're so fortunate to be able to meetup with so many of your blogging friends. It's inspiring and delightful to hear about your adventures and be introduced to so many of them through posts like this.

Those orchids are enchantingly gorgeous! They're (orchids in general) one of my favourite flowers ever and something of a personal emblem for me.

I hope that many more great meetups are able to happen for you this year, Ally, and that you have a beautiful Easter week!

  16. Your photography is wowing me! Love the photos of the florals, each one a piece of art. You captured the beauty of nature perfectly. I am so glad you had fun with your friends... I do find it interesting that the younger ones take photos of their food... I don't blame them so when is artistry to that too.
I had a good weekend, except for some snow..

  18. Ally! I have missed you! I have to say that I am jealous of all of your recent adventures. I have had a few recently, but I have been a crappy blogger and have not documented anything. Maybe you should come to Detroit and show me how its done, eh? Eh? ;) Megan and Megan look like sweet girls, and your photography skills just keep improving!

  22. I love getting to see the different perspectives on this trip. The way three people experience an event through their personal lenses is so interesting. Now I want to go on a trip with another blogger so I can see how we both write about it!
