The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Boxing Gloves

Three months ago, I did an outfit post with a fun accessory -- pink boxing gloves.  After I finished, I thought it'd be a shame to put the gloves in storage so I had the inspired idea to share them with other bloggers.  I announced their availability and was excited to see a bunch of you leap at the chance to play with the gloves.

So far, the gloves have been worn by five bloggers.  They are now on their way up to Canada for three bloggers up there and then over to Europe.  There are more than a dozen people still on the list -- and always room for more.  (Just leave a comment if you want to play.)

It's been fun to watch different bloggers come up with creative ways to use the gloves.  Here are the pugilists who've entered the ring so far, with links to their blogs.  Who's your favorite so far?

  1. Have to give credit to founder of the challenge! -The Winner of course! For starting such a creative idea, and letting it blossom

I love Sara with the use of her dual personality is very creative, gives new meaning to knocking yourself out!
Daphne looks like she is ready to get in the ring, and Gracie has an adorable smile...I think Hollie is drumming up some business for pinterest.

I am looking forward to seeing where the boxing gloves end up next.

  2. Now that is like asking me to chose a favourite flower, or ice cream flavour, or child! It cant' be done. It's fun to see the different ways people use them. I'm excited for my turn but a little bit nervous that I will be boring! LOL There are some tough acts to follow.

  3. It's like the Traveling Yellow Skirt! I love how everyone expresses something different - the gloves allow them to play with their image a bit. I'm so excited to get them!

  6. You've really started something fantastic and meaningful here, Ally. It's awesome to see how each woman has opted to pose with the gloves and make the experience of temporarily borrowing them her own (plus, I enjoy knowing that they're headed to my own country next - very cool!).

    Have a fabulous weekend!

  10. I've been missing some blogs lately. Just stopped by to catch up. Then I had a fit of the giggles reading the 'apologies' when I spotted the one directed to Beth... Good Gladys! Ah. Another Beth. All of my Stella Artois is still chilling. * Do like the black and white ensemble!

  12. Well of course I would say that YOU are my favorite so far! :) But I think that everyone has done a beautiful job at "styling" their gloves so far. Such a super fun idea.

How does it work? I would totally love to participate!

  18. I'm proud to admit that I've learned my lesson now going on 6 years. I work in a New York based mortgage firm and am ashamed to say that I use to bully and badger my transgender co-worker to the point that she wanted to quit. I later discovered that we belonged to the same downtown white collar boxing club. Well, she proposed that we should settle whatever problems in the ring one evening after gym hours and I was happy to oblige. We'll...she gave me a pair of 20 ounce boxing gloves in bright pink but the embarrassing part was soon to come. My transgender co-worker gave me a beaut of a boxing lesson. I remember me trying to dodge those stiff jabs tap-tap-tappin' my face as I circled in vain. She dot my eyes up pretty good and left draped backwards on the top strand ring rope. When it was all over she went into her purse and pulled out a huge pair of sunglasses and handed them to me and said, "These are the shades I wore everyday home to hide my tears from your bullying and terrible talk about me. Now you can wear them at work to hide your shiners." From that day on she's never had a unpleasant day, or...night with me because you see we've been together and playfully boxing each other for the last 6 years.

  19. Using the Starpro punching bag for workouts not only promotes muscle growth but also provides an intense level of cardio and aerobic exercise and can be augmented by adding footwork to your session. Depending on your body weight you can burn from 100 to 300 or more calories while toning your muscles during a 30 minute session.
