Back In The Saddle Again

The past two weeks have been among the worst in my life.  Not only did I suffer from the physical injuries of my recent accident, last week I caught an awful cold that turned into bronchitis.  Fever, pounding headaches and constant body pain -- on top of which I had to worry about and conduct a trial in Queens at the end of the week.  I was miserable every day.

But that's behind me now.  Or most of it.  My injuries are 80% healed.  My cold is gone.  My trial is over.  Let's turn the page.

Good news -- I used the opportunity of the accident to not only have my bike repaired but also make some modifications which increase the power and handling of the machine.  I picked the bike up today and it looks great.  Unfortunately, my  right arm is still screwed up so I can't ride well but that strength will return in a few weeks.

My new gear arrived.  I love my shiny Vanson leather jacket.  Stylish, top-notch and cool.  It'll magically transform me into the badass biker you know.  I had to replace my ruined boots, too; the new pair feel wonderful.

Filling out the odd mix that is me, I want to create a new female outfit soon.  Something feminine and light.  But I'll have to be careful to cover up my legs 'cause they still show scrapes and bruises.  Being a badass isn't easy...

  2. I've been worried about you. I'm sorry it was a rough time but glad you are doing better again. Lovely new leathers! Have you thought of trying a mix of feminine and biker in one of your looks? I love juxtapositions of tough and tender, hard and soft, masculine and feminine. You could represent all of yourself in one outfit.

    1. Good idea. It's occurred to me at times. I saw a leather jacket with soft pink floral inserts that spoke to me... but I was concerned about being able to wear it in public. I agree that the juxtaposition is very attractive aesthetically.

  4. I am delighted that you are doing better and hope that your 80% turns to 100% REAL soon.

I opened this post and my hubby is on the other computer and I said "here's the bike" and his response "great bike" and that's from another biker.

Perhaps you should show Shawna the picture of your legs in heels on a super bike?

  6. I'm so sorry to read about your recent motorcycle accident and the rough couple of weeks you've had, Ally. I'm glad you're on the mend now.
I've never mentioned my fears about motorcycles to you because I know it's your joy. So I'll just say...please, please be careful. I know this was caused by another driver though. Be glad I'm not your mother or I'd give you plenty of opportunity to roll your eyes at me. haha ;)

  13. I tried commenting on this from my phone last night, but I think the comment got eaten.

Anyway: so glad you're back! I noticed your absence and was starting to get worried. Glad to hear you're on the mend. Hopefully you'll be staying happy and healthy for good now.

P.S. Bruises are interesting. Show them off!

(I agree with Ashley. I weirdly like bruises - they are interesting colors.)

  18. Hi Ally,

i'm happy to hear you are doing better, and looking on the bright side. You most likely would have waited years to get some new bike gear and now you have some nice shiny new stuff to go play in. And new things for the bike too!!

    Yay!!

It is interesting coming to your page and finding pics of heavy leather. Would be interesting to see if you could mix the two .. sort of a biker chick look .. but more classy cause it is you :)

  19. I have been wondering how you've been doing since your posts have slowed down since your injury. So sorry to hear you've been so under the weather and miserable. That's the worst...great new gear though!

Get well soon! My thoughts are with you!

  20. good to know you are on the way to feel better!
your new gear reminds me of the 90´s - biker boots and leather jacket was all the rage over velvet micro mini dress or mille fleur gowns :-)
and often i wore this with scratched/bruised legs because of my rock climbing....... (or falling down the stairs on booze - haha) - we were young and wild in this days ;-)

  24. I'm glad that you are getting better! What a horrid ordeal :( I think you might have to do what most women are stuck doing when they wanna show off legs, but need to hide marks (that sounds really bad, lol) wear tights!

  25. This is some serious gear and like you said very necessary but also super stylish too. So glad you are starting to feel better. Injuries plus bronchitis does sound awful.

  26. So glad you're feeling better. Having a cold is the worst! And nice motor gear!

  27. My friend would be jealous. Her bike is still in storage for the winter.

Looking forward to another Ally Outfit... and why hide your bruises? Wear them with pride! Women aren't fragile pieces of glass. They're human beings and we do things that can sometimes leave us bruised and broken. Or is that just my excuse for wearing a dress/skirt even when my shins are black and blue? :-)

  28. Glad to hear you're getting there... just remember once step at a time is always best. I had over a week off the radar with a stinker of a cold too, ended up taking two sick days off work which is not like me and felt very guilty doing it. But sometimes we must give in to our bodies and give them time to heal.
Looking forward to hearing that you've been out riding again - but only when your arm is better.

  29. Hooray! Your new gear looks awesome :) When my legs are bruised/scraped from a climbing trip (like they are right now) I rely on opaque or semi-opaque tights. Or you could try a feminine look with pants--you don't do that much!

  30. Ooowee!! That jacket and those boots are sexy!! (I have kind of a weakness for biker gear)

  31. You're going to come back from this stronger, wiser and more determined than ever, Ally, trust me. I can already see it in the tone of your writing and your desire to get back out on the open road again. Way to go!

  36. i hope you are 100% by now!! i laughed at the badass/legs comment. i was just thinking that i am happy it's still pants weather because i dopped a pitcher on my leg and have the nastiest bruise!!

  39. Oooff ... so sorry to hear you had an accident - but glad to hear you're on the mend. Take care of yourself xx You could maybe add a subtle but luxe scarf to contrast against the leather. A classic silk paisley or neckerchief of Liberty Tana lawn? Something that just feels beautiful against the skin maybe? I always try to wear silk underpinnings under the utility wear - even a plain silk cami/vest top that only I know about feels delicious :)

Glad you are on the mend - make sure you get as many treats as that bike!!
