Mermaid Parade

One of the most fun things I did last year was go to the Mermaid Parade in Coney Island.  It's a fabulous annual event with thousands of people wearing terrific costumes.  It's better than Halloween.

My friend Jamie suggested I join her and Nicole, so I did.  It was my first time there and I was astounded.  Jamie is into photography and we both brought our cameras.  I took over 300 pictures.

I showed a tiny sample of those photos on two blog posts (here and here).  I was just looking through my digital files and realized there are other cool pictures you might enjoy seeing.  They are shown below.

I'll be attending the parade again this year.  It's in June.  If you're anywhere near Coney Island, you should go.

    Oh this looks like so much fun! Haha, I love the costumes! There are always zombie walks here that I want to go to but miss them.

    how cool and amazing is this?! You know, my best friend and I became best friends all because I let her play "Ariel" on the slide with me during recess in pre-school. Mermaids. They're magical.

    Looks like a lot of fun. In S.A. we only have our university parades and they are usually a bit hectic so I have never been to one. I love the last photo you showed here ... not sure they would make it into The Little Mermaid movie!!!

    Aw, this looks like a ton of fun! The only kind of "dress-up" thing we have around here is some sort of zombie shuffle. Random tidbit: Hawaii around Halloween is awesome, as people walk the streets in costume. It's jam-packed and people go all out.

    What a colorful, fun parade! I used to go to the Gay Pride Parade every year when I lived in Chicago. I went to the San Francisco Gay Pride Parade last June, and it was 10 times wilder than the Chicago one! I also watch the Electric Light Parade in Walt Disney WOrld when I'm there on vacation.

    I loved your original Mermaid pics and I am loving these- what a whimsical event! It's funny that the KISS fans got into it as well!
