The hot summer months prompt us to wear casual clothes with little effort at style. Most blogs have few outfits on display this time of year.
That situation may be okay for most of you, but I miss glamour! I miss dressing up, wearing fancy clothes and trying on new ideas.
So, even if I'm out-of-step with the rest of you, I'm bringing back glamour. I found a cute dress yesterday at Marshall's (a discount store) and offer it to you in the spirit of fashion.
Oh, what a fun dress. I love the color - it looks amazing on you.
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny that you posted this. The boy and I were talking about the 20s yesterday and he asked me why everyone was so much better looking back then. I said that they weren't, they just cared more about their appearances, that they cared more about polish and yes, glamour. So, I for one am glad you're bringing it back because I think the current, glamour-less aesthetic is frankly a little boring.
I am DYING to find a top in this exact color, and I am coming up with nothing. Seriously, I have been searching all.summer.long. This dress is absolutely perfect!

O__O What a FANTASTIC color on you, Ally!!! I also thought it was very smart of you to pair it with that turquoise scarf -- unexpected, but works!
ReplyDeleteYou hussy you! Hehehehe. I'd totally dress more glamourous if I had somewhere glamorous to go. Like your sezzy kitchen.
ReplyDeleteVaVa Voom! Short and glamorous is right. You're also right about summer and the slow down in outfit posts from bloggers, but I'm glad to see you putting us all to shame in your going-all-out-getup. It's inspiring me to find an opportunity to dress things up! Love seeing you rock a bold red lip, as well.
ReplyDeleteFabulous way to spend your day! I've been hitting the rut stage myself. I love the metallic shoes with that gorgeous shade of blue! You look so glam.
ReplyDeleteDEFINITELY glamorous! You have FABULOUS legs and now I'm thinking that maybe you should feature them more often! ~Serene
ReplyDeletei love the colour! its a kate middleton colour! lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Serene - keep featuring the legs!
ReplyDeleteI adore that you love glamour and totally agree: let's bring it back!
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing in this colour, but what really caught my eye was the scarf mixed with the other shade of blue. That tone on tone is lovely together.
Oh, and the shoes. To. Die. For.
Love the dress!
ReplyDeleteHappy tuesday wishes from Norway :)
Very glamorous, especailly teamed with that turquoise neck scarf. Just beautiful. x
ReplyDeleteMarshalls rules. The rosettes on the dress are so glam! I'm looking forward to the weather cooling down so its more fun to play dress up!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Ashley, I have no where to go all dressed up like that. As it is, I get the "why are you all dressed up". Working in a cubbie where no one sees you makes all the people in my office dress down, way way down.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, I LOVE that you do this just for you because it makes you happy. You look amazing in it, but more importantly it makes your heart sing!
Love the color!

Dressing up with nowhere to go can sometimes be just as fun as if you have somewhere to go, just for the sake of doing it. As long as it's in the air conditioning, please. ;) Beautiful, deep color, and I love the way it wraps. Glamorous, indeed!
ReplyDeleteWoo-hoo, here's to glamour! I've been feeling so 'meh' about clothes lately that I needed that little punch in the arm. Your post was well timed.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely stood out to me - I jumped when I saw the first photo in google reader. You look stunning!
ReplyDeletewhere the hell did you get this dress! I want it badly! gergrous look! and thanks for your comment!

ReplyDeleteOh, you look positively adorable!
ReplyDeleteI'm from Southern California where it's possible to wear pretty much whatever you want whenever you want, but now that I go to college in central Texas, working my fashion around the weather is a new and exciting challenge! My staple, of course, is a HUGE brimmed sunhat! <3Lovely
Woot woot I wish I had gams like you! You look stunning- I love the rosebud detailing of the dress and the colour is great!
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile :) Pretty color for you!

ReplyDeleteI love the colors... both of those blues are divine! And I'm envious of your hot legs
ReplyDeleteWow I love the color!! The little scarf is so cute too! Seriously, I want to trade legs. Mine are all chubby and now are sun-burnt and have bug-bites-ick. Yours are sleek and ready to party!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, Sara. I'll trade you my legs for your smile!
ReplyDeletemost of these commenting girls were already talking about this... but every girl could get green with envy because of your legs! you should wear more short dresses to show them.
