Bonnie from Glam Kitten's Litter Box just tagged me with a few questions. Sometimes I worry that I may be telling you guys more than you want to hear so, at the risk of overstaying my welcome, I accept Bonnie's offer. I guess if I've outworn your patience, you can change the channel and watch pro wrestling or something...
Five Favorite Things Right Now:
1. Blogging, by a long shot. Not just posting but commenting on others' blogs. This fun activity brings big doses of happiness into my life -- and, with my ugly job, I need that antidote.
2. Making new blogger-friends. You guys are the greatest!
3. Manny Ramirez. He's a famous baseball player who disregards the culture of his sport and is hated for his unconventional behavior (and long dreadlocked hair). I love Manny precisely because he flouts convention. Manny is so notorious that an expression emerged for his eccentric behavior -- "Manny being Manny." Despite the unfounded vitriol hurled at him, Manny is one of the best players of all time. He was a World Series MVP in 2004 (when the Red Sox won) and has innumerable batting records. I follow Manny around from team to team. He used to play with the Boston Red Sox, moved to the Los Angeles Dodgers, spent a month with the Chicago White Sox and just signed to play for the Tampa Bay Rays this year. Go, Manny!
4. Colored tights. I love 'em!
5. My new Nikon D3000. Crisp pictures and easy to use.
Questions:
1. Favorite makeup brand:
Lime Crime (owned by my friends Xenia and Mark)
2. Favorite clothing brand:
Whatever is on the racks of a thrift-store.
3. My indispensable makeup product:
Lipstick. Gotta have it.
4. What country I would like to visit and why:
Italy, for the art and food there.
5. The last concert I have attended:
"Million Dollar Quartet" on Broadway. Terrific musical performances.
Thanks, Bonnie!
This is a Great post ! I Love learning new facts about my blogger friends. I have been wanting to try Lime Crime Makeup. I will check out the website again.
ReplyDeleteLove this post ... and please please please don't stop sharing. I love getting to know the person behind the blog. It's great seeing the photos and outfits, but I love reading and seeing the bits that make up the rest of their lives. Guess I could never have just a 'style' blog ;-)
ReplyDeleteOooh, lookie there - 60 Followers!!!! Fantastic ... will have a spritzer in your honour at my 'sisters dinner' tonight.
ReplyDeleteThanks, guys. I really appreciate your support!
ReplyDeleteI love hearing you talk about yourself. You can talk about yourself all day to me, and I guarantee that I will be fascinated. I love hearing people's stories. (As long as I get to talk about myself, too. That's how it goes with us self-centered types.)
ReplyDeleteI need a new camera. I might steal yours. Well, not yours EXACTLY, but the same kind of camera as you have. (Why am I so awkward all the time? Geeeezzz.)
P.S. Let's go to Italy together, mmmkayyyy???

Have you ever been to Italy before? I've never been out of the US and I'd really like to go someday. I remember, back in the day, I always used to think I was going to take a year off between high school and college and backpack across Europe. I never did, obviously, and now I've lost the guts to go on a trip of that capacity. Maybe I'll take a smaller trip, someday, though.
ReplyDeleteI always like to know more about you! Some people's writing bores me to tears, but yours is always totally readable, and I can appreciate that. So keep it coming!
I like baseball, but I don't know too much about Manny, so I'll remain neutral on the subject of him. Aren't all of his kids named Manny?
so interesting! do u mean...job as a lawyer? and it's ugly? No wonder why my husband stopped practicing law. He was impatient thus giving up on his childhood ambition. I also love colored tights! but I am a no lipstick at all..just lip balm=)
ReplyDeleteThanks, guys. No, Ashley, I've never been to Italy. Only trip to Europe was a weekend in Amsterdam. Bonnie, when I go, you can join me adn we can pretend to be sisters.
ReplyDeleteDear Girl: yes, I mean lawyering. It's an antagonistic, unpleasant job.
I let people make up their own minds about Manny. I stopped arguing with male friends on Facebook about him last year. It's not my job in life to correct other people's ignorance. :)
Getting serious for a sec, I was reflecting on sports this morning and composed a deeply personal post which I'll put up later. Sports have always functioned in my family as a symbol of gender-conformity. The details of that explain a lot of who I am and how I was forced to grow up.
Thanks for sharing Shy! What a nice post and please don't think that we're not interested in you posting more personal info! It's a delight to get to know such a unique person like YOU!! (..still waiting for your get-to-know-you-mail!!). And colour tights are a new discovery for me and I love them too! I'm not scared of them anymore! Kisses
ReplyDeleteI haven't forgotten to send it, Dimi. I just want to do it when I have enough time to do it justice.
ReplyDeleteTOTALLY on board for being sisters with you. We'll tear that place up.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new camera. I love my D3000 and am really pleased to hear that you do too. Thanks for sharing the answers to your questions. It's great to learn more about you. And Manny sounds like a man after my own heart (and talented to boot).
ReplyDeleteSigh, Italy, YES! Wow a D3000 MAD JEALOUS! Thats so cool. Manny Ramirez lol theres a name I haven't heard in awhile.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to thank you for your comment on my most recent post. I'm sort of waiting to see if you read what I wrote about what happened, mostly because you live just outside nyc too. plus, you're always so understanding and encouraging. no pressure ;)
