First Outfit Of The Year

I bought this pretty dress as a Christmas present to myself.  It's made by Jessica Simpson.  I got the dress on sale for $39 at a discount-store named Fox's.  That price is way more than I usually spend, but I wanted something special.

What do you think?

Oh, and I took the pictures with my new Nikon camera.  I haven't mastered the many operations of the camera yet; these are just basic photos.

  1. I think you have awesome long legs! The dress is cute. I was looking at a similar one before the holiday. The checkers are sweet. Plus with the black & white you can change the belt & accessories depending on the occasion.

  2. Thanks, Ashelle. The dress actually came with a skinny black belt that I replaced with the yellow one for a pop of color.

  3. You look classic and gorgeous. I do agree with Ashelle, you have been truly blessed with beautiful legs. I would pair the dress up with a pretty crimson belt if I could. :)This dress is special, it's my most favorite outfit of yours.

Have a wonderful New Year :)

Look forward to hearing from you

  4. Dude, you are beautiful!! I think this is my favorite look of yours, I am partial to 60's style, but you are perfect in this!!

Sweet new camera! You are going to be wasting hours and hours taking pictures of random stuff, honestly, it is the best thing to do. I have about 600 pictures of the tree outside, different times of day, close-ups, at night, etc. Camera's are fun toys :):)

  8. LOVE!! I love this dress and I love that you paired it with the yellow belt because it's a color combo that I would have never thought would work. (Too much similarity to a bumblebee normally?) But the hint of yellow is smashing!

  16. This dress is fabulous - the shape really suits you. Black and white prints are perfect for mixing with strong colours, like you've done here. I love the lemony belt - great choice. And I would do just about anything within in the law for legs like yours.

  18. Thanks, guys, for the sweet compliments. They warm my heart on a cold winter day.

When I lifted this dress off the rack, it called to me immediately; I hoped it would look as good on me as it did on the hangar. I love everything about it.

I was a child in the early to mid-1960's when fashionable women wore dresses just like this one. With that imprint on my psyche, this style appeals to me deeply. It illustrates what I think a beautiful woman should look like.

Tracy: yes, this is part of my kitchen which was completely renovated last year. Good luck with your work.

  20. Yeah! I like this dress. A lot. Love the splash of yellow, and I think I like your new camera. I'm in love with my Canon, but I'd like to try a Nikon out sometime, too. What model did you get? I might have to rent one and try it out.

  25. :: whistles :: cat call ::

Very nice! I really think this is a shape that you should choose again.

Where the belt falls seems to give you a more natural appearance of a womanly bustline and small waist.

The flare of the skirt accentuates that thin, high waistline of a woman - and balances out the shoulders. It makes you look more hourglassy. It's especially accentuated in the first pic.

The length of the skirt is very flattering - sweetly sexy without being too short.

    $39 bucks well spent.

    Nice shoes, as well!

  26. Gonna agree with the commenter just above me...the cut of the dress and belt placement gives you a wonderful shape!

Thanks for the Christmas and New Year's wishes. I'm pretty terrible at responding to things lately but I do see them and I do appreciate it. :)

  35. you should see if theres a "for dummies" book for your blog. i just got one and its got all these tips and amazing things that the manual doesn't mention.
also, that dress is the most flattering shape. I think that is perfect. Jessica Simpson's lines are usually pretty durable and flattering and worth the price.
