Mishap

Oww... Oww... Owwwww....

I was riding my motorcycle in a parking lot this morning, at about 5 mph, when an inattentive driver clipped the back of my bike, knocking it over and causing me to tumble on the concrete. Fortunately I suffered no serious injuries but, man, am I sore. My left side is aching badly.

Damage to the bike was minor, mostly cosmetic. I'll have it checked out by my mechanic.

The psychology of bikers is that, after an accident, we immediately lift our motorcycles up with the insane belief that doing so will make the accident disappear. Fueled by adrenaline and unfazed by pain, I heaved 800 lbs. of metal to an upright position. Yes, that was crazy but it's how our brains work.

No pics with this post. In fact, I'd like to forget the whole thing happened. Pour me a drink, please.

  3. Yikes! I'm glad it is just some bruising and probably some pulled muscles as well.

A warm bath in epson salts will ease some of the pain. I recommend Advil Extra Strength to help with the inflammation.

    Feel better!

    1. Certainly something like pulled muscles in my chest area. Feels like I got tackled by an entire football team.

  6. Ally! First I’m glad you’re ok! Damn cagers! Take anti-inflammatories, lots of ice on owies. Get some Voltaren Emugel cream and slather it anywhere it hurts, it is an anti-inflamnatory cream that you can get over the counter, it helps with the bruises and aches for pain relief and inflamnation. I know I for a fact it works, because of a close encounter if the pavement kind when I wiped out and rolled across it. Epsom salt baths work. Glad you’re ok, and yeah I know about that adrenaline you feel like wonder woman and in my case 480lbs was nothing to pick up. So glad you’re ok lovely!

  8. Oh no Ally! That is a terrible thing to have happened and unfortunately a thing you must watch for in the future. I find that drivers are becoming more and more inattentive.
Yes that was a bit crazy pulling up 100 pounds of metal after an accident, but adrenaline is a funny thing.
I am glad you are ok, if a bit sore!
    Bourbon neat please!

  9. Ouch! What an awful thing to have happened. Glad to hear it's only minor bruising and the damage to your bike only superficial. I'm sure a stiff drink and a hot bath will do the trick! xxx

    1. The car took off but it doesn't matter; the accident wasn't serious enough for legal action.

  12. Omg, Ally. Wishing you speedy healing. I wasn't on a bike when i had a wreck earlier this year but I did manage to drive myself home in a haze. It's amazing what the brain and body can do with adrenaline. I hope you heal quickly and get back to riding. (I also hope you got the drivers info!)

  13. OMG, are you sure you are okay? Adrenalin can mask so many things that later... well... let's hope not anyway.

  14. Oh no! How scary and unfortunate- my boyfriend has a motorcycle and he's always on the lookout for inattentive drivers because they can be DEADLY for someone on a bike! I hope you are feeling better, friend!
