Dressing For Myself

I've discovered several joys, all in the female arena. One is clothes-shopping.

Last week I visited a new town I'd never been to before. Walking its streets, I had the good sense to pop into a chic women's boutique. I thought I wouldn't buy anything there due to its high prices but I anticipated having fun simply looking at their wares.

Surprisingly they had a sale-rack on which everything was $25. That's a price I could afford. I found a red velvet dress and snapped it up.

My second discovered joy is creating outfits. I pleasantly spent time contemplating how to display my new purchase to best advantage. The process itself was fun, as you know.

And my final joy is dressing up. I had no party, not even girlfriends to parade in front of, just the opportunity to put on and wear nice clothes. And admire myself in a full-length mirror. So I did.

Do you relate to any of this? What do you think of the dress?

  1. I do love this dress, and the fishnets are perfect. Love the color and texture of the dress, it looks sexy buy comfy too. It is all about pleasing ourselves when we dress.. at least that is my MO. and yours, too, i suspect. Joy comes first.

  4. Oooh, the velvet dress is lovely! You wear it in a really glamorous and sophisticated way that I don't think I could carry off, you have that air which I lack. I'd totally wear it with a collar underneath which would poke out over the top and would probably end up looking like Annie at the end of the film when she reunites with Daddy Warbucks!

  8. I J'Adore Velvet, I Love the way it feels to the skin... many of my Fav outfits are Velvet Bloomers I bought years ago from a Fav Designer, who at the time, wasn't as well known as now, so I could afford the Clothing back then. Sometimes I just like looking at them even if I don't wear them, they are Wearable Art and those are always my Favorite ensembles... the Wearable Art. You got a great Deal and clearly you are Loving this ensemble, you look Radiant in it! Dawn... The Bohemian

  11. I play dress up a lot---a lot of times on days when I don't even go out, I just flounce around the house dressed like a forest witch, or a 50s housewife, or a fortuneteller---that is the beauty of it!

I love the dress + the fishnets, and the necklace looks great!
