I visited
The Big Duck yesterday. It's my favorite attraction on Long Island. It's a building in the shape of a duck.
The Duck has an interesting history. It was built a century ago by a duck-farmer to promote his business. Later it was bought by the government and is now operated by the State Park Department. Inside the Duck is a gift-shop with cute offerings.
The kitsch of the Duck attracts tourists and makes everyone smile. One interesting feature is that the eyes of the Duck are made from the headlights of a Model T Ford automobile.
Nice Duck! But really, your bike steals the show!
ReplyDeleteThat's darling!!! We don't have any giant birds around these parts, but at one of the beaches here you'll find a large peach (fruit) shaped structure that operates as a small concession stand in the summer and which is one of our town's best know symbols.
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic weekend, Ally!

Great shot with the bike. We have big everything over here. The big merino is close by and is a very well endowed ram! Much commented on :-)
ReplyDeleteI love it! Weird unknown places like this are just too fun! (I try to hunt them down!)

What a fun building! I think I would love to make an outfit shooting in front of it if I would ever go to Long Island :)
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, you are of course always welcome for vegan dinner if ever you are in Germany ;)
Have a great week!

ReplyDeleteI'd never heard of this… its solo cute and I like the story about the headlights. I thought it was a monument and was amazed to read its a building.
ReplyDeleteClever farmer and clever government for not destroying it but for rather putting it to good use ... LOVE your bike in front of it!
