Sensual Pleasure

Have you ever worn anything that gave you sensual pleasure? I mean, pleasure through your senses? I just discovered an item that is blasting me into sheer bliss.

I have little experience wearing long skirts and used to think they were dowdy. But dozens of friends claim that maxi-dresses are fun and pleasant. I doubted them but thought I'd experiment. Last week, while visiting a TJMAXX for the first time, I spotted a cute red-and-white striped maxi-dress for only $16. I snapped it up as my first foray into long skirts. I'm glad I did!

The dress is clingy but stretchy. Its super-soft fabric caresses me like a full-body hug. Wearing it, I'm constantly aware of its presence as every move reminds me. I smoothe, pull and tug it which sounds annoying but is the exact opposite -- a frequent reminder of how sensual the dress is. Honestly I've never worn anything that made me feel so feminine. I find myself smiling unconsciously as bliss bubbles to the surface of my mind.

Plus, its bright-red color matches my toes perfectly!

You may think this odd but the joy I'm getting from this dress -- which I wear non-stop every day lounging at home -- isn't how it looks but how it feels. Sure, I catch glimpses of it in the mirror but the real pleasure is how my body feels when it's on. This morning, I woke up thinking I can't wait to get a chance to wear it today just for that feeling. The feeling is like the euphoria people get from drugs. I'm addicted!

Have you ever experienced this? With what type of clothing?

  1. I do the exact same thing in my maxi skirts! I'll wear one to work or whatever, then wear it around the house as loungewear for the next few days. It's just so comfortable and cozy! Love the color, both on the skirt and your toes :)

  2. Long dresses, wether its a maxi dress or a formal gown to a wedding make me feel so very girly… so I can totally see why you'd love this.
May I suggest you also find a long robe and long pj. Its the same girly lux effect that I am sure you will love.

    1. Thanks for the suggestions. I have a short robe which doesn't give me this feeling and several nighties which are very loose; they are comfortable but also unlike this dress.

  3. Not odd at all! There's something about wearing a maxi dress that makes me feel ethereal and princess-like. It's like playing dress up when you're young and wearing a fancy dress-- it's almost like wearing a gown, but suitable enough for every day.

If you love the feel of the fabric, I suggest googling for a Rachel Pally maxi dress. I think there should be some on ebay for cheap, but she makes the absolute BEST jersey material. It's SO, SO soft and sensuous!

  4. Clothing usually doesn't give me that feeling. But a soft blanket or fluffy pillow will. Let's talk a minute about how you had never beent o TJ Maxx before...girl you need to go there more often!!! I'm happy you found something to make you so happy!

    1. There are many, many clothing stores I've never been in. Only by consciously making the choice to go leads me there. In normal-life, there'd be no reason for me to shop in female stores. I've been surprised and delighted by what I've found in this and similar stores.

    1. Thanks, Vale. In addition to looking female, I want to have the experiences women have. This is one of them. A nice one.

  7. Very cool! I have experienced this as well, particularity with (odd as it may sound) jean jackets (but not other denim items usually), just about anything chiffon, nylons, feathers, and super cozy sweaters. The sensation isn't erotic for me, just extra pleasurable, like a warm summer breeze tickling your skin.

    Have a great Tuesday, Ally!

  8. Maxi dresses are fun. And I get what you mean. Especially if the fabric moves easily and is light. That maxi dress that I wore a few weeks back that is very full made me feel like a Queen even time I moved. So much fabric was moving all around me. It felt a bit like I was the vortex of my own universe : )

  9. Girl, I just pulled out one of my favorite clingy maxi dresses and tried it on again last night in a sort of 'getting ready for summer moment' and I remembered all over again how much I LOVE a summer maxi dress! I'll probably be showing off in it on the blog soon lolzzzz

  10. I usually struggle because of my sensory integration. Most fabrics cause if not discomfort, pain. But the corset I tried on in Philly made me feel so incredible. Someday, I'll own one. But I'll still remember that feeling.

  11. ohhh you cant tease us like this.. what about a photo of you IN the dress? Sounds lovely. I can't seem to wear the maxi's all that well, I just end up tripping on the bottom of it all the time. Then again, I'm not all that graceful to begin with :P

    1. To take a full picture, I would have had to fix my hair and makeup. I was tired. Avoided that work by truncating the photo. I doubt you aren't graceful with your natural athleticism!

  14. Dammit, you had me all psyched up to see the dress, and then I get to the bottom of the post and can only see the hemline!!! :P Post the rest, girl!!

This actually looks a lot like a hot pink and white striped maxi dress I have.

I seem to remember reading once that men hate maxi dresses on women (you know how magazines and websites like to make it sound like it's all men's opinion). I guess because you're typically really covered up, I dunno. But I think that's so ridiculous with as figure-hugging as they tend to be. They do feel so good when they swing around you, especially if they're jersey material, and are universally flattering if you get the top part right for your shape.

So glad you found something new that makes you feel so good and will let you just relish in being a woman!

  16. I'm addicted to my petticoats. They're lovely and soft against bare legs - NOTHING like the scratchy crinolines I used to have to suffer through in Sunday School when I was a kid! Considering I'm basically a jeans, black tshirt and boots kinda gal, me saying I enjoy wearing a petticoat because it makes me feel feminine is kind of a big deal.

Would love to see a picture of all of you in your new dress. :)

  17. I love that pic of your toes peeping out! I have one maxi dress, and although I don't think it is my style, and I don't really care for how it looks on me. But, I love how it feels. I tend to wear it as pajamas, lol.

  19. Oh yes... I have some Vintage wear from a Fav Designer that just makes me feel on the outside how I always want to feel on the inside! Bliss is finding those things that make our Heart Sing and our Spirit Soar! For Mother's Day in fact I treated myself to another pair of OOAK Bloomers from this Designer that I scored at Online Auction... I know I shall feel Sublime wearing them! Right now feeling Sublime will be a good thing since the toll exacted from Caregiving can suppress my own inner Happiness when I have to endure watching Loved ones Suffering and be able to do nothing to take their Pain away. I Wish everyone could find something to make them Feel such Sublime Happiness. Happy Spring from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian

  20. It's wonderful that you've found an item of clothing that gives you so much happiness! I enjoy the feeling of silk, cozy cardigans and a well-worn tee. I also enjoy the feeling of movement and flutter that comes from wearing kimono tops - it feels so feminine.

  21. It's lovely to find a piece of clothing that makes you feel happy. I have never worn a maxi dress. I am short and have wide thighs, I've always believed one wouldn't suit me. I might try one on this week and see.
