All Grown Up

I set a goal for this outfit -- I wanted to look grown up.  Mature yet stylish.  So I chose a womanly dress and paired it with chic sandals.  I added a belt for structure.  What do you think?

By the way, these are the shoes I bought with that infamous "Senior Discount," of which we shall speak no more...

  1. You look gorgeous! Wow. Wow. Just beautiful. I love those shoes, too, and your necklace. You have a good bit of edgy in there with glamorous and mature. <3

  2. Ahhh...the infamous shoes ; ) They are cute though. Added bonus...they look comfy too.

I like the empire waist on this. It really makes your legs even longer than they already are. The colours of the dress are great too.

  3. Love, love, LOVE! Everything about this outfit is a Win with a capital W. I love watching your style evolve as you figure out what works and what doesn't for you--and this absolutely does.

One tiny critique, if you don't mind--and this might be a moot point anyway given your body shape--but the belt is pulled a little high. If you had breasts, they'd be spilling up and over the belt. Not a good look. For most women, the smallest part of their waist is at or just above their belly button/at or just below the very bottom of the ribcage--that's where a belt like this should hit. Moving the belt lower also would help give you an illusion of hips/breasts (the coveted "hourglass shape").

    1. You're right, of course. The problem was there was something on the dress I used the belt to conceal. When I put the belt lower (as it should have been), that defect was exposed. A problem either way, so I just made a choice.

  6. Those shoes are fantastic! Age is only a history of experiences and a strange scribbling of things we call numbers.

    You look lovely :)

  12. I 'Heart' my Senior Discount... and it's a great way to get flattered when, like you, they can't believe you actually qualify for it yet! *Whoop Whoop!* And I'm envious of your Pedi... my feet right now look like Tarzans! *Le Sigh*

  14. I love this outfit - well done! I think I have the matching earrings to your necklace. I adore the shoes - so sweet, but I think they are a little casual for a more "mature" outfit. That's a very minor quibble, though. ;-P

  15. Ooooh, love the print, colors and plunging neckline of the dress. Awesome, shoes too. Those are not your grandma's orthopedics. ha You look great!
ps. I'm not sure where the flaw in the dress is exactly or how big... For another cover up option could you use a pretty, thin, black shawl thrown over the shoulders and hanging down or tied? Or a solid color scarf draped around the neck and positioned at an angle adequate to hide the defect?

  16. Elegant for sure, but not "grown up". If I didn't know you and saw you for the first time I'd see a chic woman in her forties. The colour combination also works with your skin and hair colour and the shape of the dress compliments your body shape (I'd skip the bracelet-it feels too much and a bit matchy-matchy which I don't really love). It's one of your best outfits, I love it!!

  18. I think saving money on a cute pair of shoes is always a good thing, even if the reason for it wasn't the one you wanted :)

  25. Terrific outfit - it's chic and summery, with just a hint of alluring sass and intrigue thanks to the gladiator-esque sandals.

While I'm not trying to speed up time, the bargain/discount shopping lover in me will happily welcome the day I can use senior discounts. My mom is the exact opposite and won't avail of them, she says, as then people would know she's over 55 - phish!!! I'll tell the whole world as much if it saves me a few clams! :)
