Inspired by "The Great Gatsby" movie, I picked up a silvery flapper dress Fox's and enhanced it with some 1920's-style accessories. I had fun with this project 'cause it's different from what I normally wear. Now I just need to find a party!
Do you ever dress up like characters in a movie?
Ooh-la-la! I hope you busted open that champagne bottle (I think that dress is worthy enough of celebrating)!
ReplyDelete"Do you ever dress up like characters in a movie?"
ALL THE FREAKING TIME! ;-)
wwOOOOO, loving your Great Gatsby look- awesome shoes and dress combo! I actually took part in a Great Gatsby musical/theatrical piece in a manor house some years ago and so we had to try and dress as part of era and I too wore a metallic grey/silvery dress! Hmmm, must look for those photos!x
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in high school every outfit was inspired by a movie character or rock star. Now that I'm old and lazy (joke) I just save it for Halloween. HEH!!
ReplyDeleteOhhh i love that picture where you are holding tha bottle, you look genuinly happy and like a true party girl.
ReplyDeletethis dress is so much fun!
ReplyDeleteOoohlala! I closed my eyes for a nap a little while ago, and all my favorite bloggers are updating! Hope I didn't miss the party. That dress is worth celebrating.
ReplyDeleteI always try to channel someone, whether it's readily recognizable - I don't know, but it's still fun!
I just saw Star Trek, I think I may see Gatsby next week.
This is truly a WOW!!! outfit! Love it so much.
ReplyDeleteNice!
ReplyDeleteI have done so before, I have an interest in a few book characters :P but I don't own a flapper dress as of yet. Of course you look fabulous in yours with those wonderful legs!
ReplyDeletekiller dress. i love those metallic heels as well. i've been eyeing a pair myself!
ReplyDelete[oomph.]
Sunglasses Giveaway!
I love that all this 20's gear is going to come out everywhere thanks to this movie. The picture with the champagne bottle is great! Love your blingy bangles.
ReplyDeleteOh what a gorgeous dress-it fits you like a glove! <3 and I love that you were inspired by The Great Gatsby, I saw some pics on the Internet and I must say that movie has a GREAT style!
ReplyDeleteA *tight* glove -- I had a hard time taking it off!
DeleteThis is a perfect Great Gatsby inspiration! I love it! I dressed to kind of match a favorite childhood movie once, but that's about as far as I've gone.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love dressing up like movie characters...period pieces (or major fantasy films) are always fun!
ReplyDeleteHey Ally, Gorgeous dress!!!
ReplyDeleteMy son went to see The Great Gatsby on Saturday and he loved loved loved it. He wants to see it again before he writes a review on it as he says there was so much happening. He also said that the movie was a wonderful depiction of the book ~ He just finished the book last week(Wendy and I were shocked that he enjoyed it so much as we HAD to read it in high school and here he is reading it for pleasure!!!)
Hope your Monday was a super special start to the week!!!
That's awesome - way to get your Gatsby on! :)
ReplyDeleteI've taken scores of style cues from various (vintage) movies, but can't recall ever trying to emulate a certain character's look in its entirety.
Have a fantastic Monday & week ahead!
♥ Jessica
You look so pretty! I love party dresses but never have anywhere to wear them! I still can't wait to see Gatsby either!
ReplyDeletelol, I love Carrie Mulligan! She was on Doctor Who :D I think she is very pretty and I am flattered that you would pick her! I picked Emily Blunt because I am a snarky asshole most of the time, lol!
you look stunning!

I love the photo with you holding the bottle aloft, so much energy in that picture.
ReplyDeleteI once channelled Gwyneth Paltrow from The Talented Mr Ripley for an interview.... And got the job!
This is fantastic and what stunning silver tones. I really lack 1920s inspired pieces myself; I might just wear some long pearls when I go and see the movie next week (still hasn't come out here yet). I've never dressed like any characters but lately I have felt like putting together some outfits inspired by disney princesses. So when I get a chance I might take some pictures and blog that.
ReplyDeleteFun party dress! I did dress like "the Crow" a couple of times in college, but I think that's it
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Yes, I love dressing up, we had a Gatsby inspired brunch it was so much fun. I love this silvery number! it's really stunning! :) /Madison
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous, Ally! I'm loving the sassy silver dress and layered necklaces. I've dressed up like characters from a book before, but never a movie - it would be fun to try, though. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Gatsby came to mind before I even read the text to this post. So shiny :)
ReplyDeleteLove this, and you're so cute holding up the bottle! I really like the way you layered the necklaces.
ReplyDeleteI did NOT like the book when I read it in high school. It depressed me terribly. Everyone was so unhappy and misguided. I wonder how I would feel now if I read it. I would like to see the movie.
We dressed up like the Beetlejuice characters for Halloween a few years ago. :)
