Everyone my age had an opinion about The Beatles. Back in the time before cable and Internet, the media had fewer outlets and every one of them was crowded with images and talk about The Fab Four. You couldn't escape them if you wanted to.
A common game was to ask people which Beatle they liked best. Their answers were clues to people's personalities. Paul McCartney was dubbed "the cute one" and he's never lost his boyish good looks. Even at age 69, he's a handsome man.
Paul just got married to a woman from where I live (Long Island). They met in the Hamptons. She comes from wealth and looks younger than her age (51). Paul's first marriage was a dream -- he and Linda were soulmates and they spent every night together for thirty years despite his many professional commitments. After Linda's death (1998), Paul made a horrible mistake in marrying another woman who turned out to be evil. He divorced her in 2008.
Let's hope this union works out. Any thoughts?
Well, I really like the Beatles first of all. I sure hope that this union works out. I heard a news story that Nancy is very similiar to Linda in personality, so maybe it will work out. Paul is still quite dapper at 69. Heather
ReplyDeleteI'd hardly call Heather 'evil'. The press has done a great job of vilifying her. It isn't the biggest sin in the world to marry someone for their money. He was stupidly naive in the first place. And there's no denying that she has raised a shedload of money for charity both before her marriage and since. Lets save the word evil for those who truly deserve it - rapists, murderers, dictators etc..
ReplyDeleteI wonder why people feel compelled to keep marrying over and over again. And on the other hand, I think... well, why not?
ReplyDeleteBut, maybe third time is a charm?
::crosses fingers for them::
Mhm, what a coincidence, I was listening to the Beatles all morning! I think they look like a cute and happy couple, and the age difference is negligible, especially since they're both middle-aged or older. Other than that, I haven't been following the gossip so I don't know enough to offer an opinion on his former wives...
ReplyDeleteShe looks so young! And has her own money, so this marriage seems like a good idea. And Paul was my favorite too.
ReplyDeleteHis new wife is gorgeous! Hopefully they will be happy.
ReplyDeleteI have no thoughts. But I really enjoyed reading yours.
ReplyDeletexo,
Tracy
What?! She is 51?! Damn!
ReplyDeleteJust me...but I always thought George was the cute one. I don't think I've ever heard anyone else say that. But he was!
I don't know much about Heather Mills other than she is very active in animal rights...I can't fault her for that trait! ;)
So, which Beatle do YOU like the best?!
ReplyDeleteI do think Paul has aged well and his bride looks gorgeous. Let's hope she is as pretty on the inside as she is on the outside.
ReplyDeletewow these guys were (and still are) such a legend.. must have been cool for people who were able to see them when they were young and in the day...
ReplyDeletePiper: Yoko!
ReplyDeleteI still like to believe the real Paul McCartney died in 1967 and this guy is his replacement.
ReplyDeleteEven though I know that's not true.
Girl is good looking for 51! Dayum.
Evil is a bit harsh. I'd go for troubled.
ReplyDeleteI wish Paul and his new wife the very best, as I would any newly weds. I wonder if good looks or money will make any difference to how their marriage progresses?

I have personally always had a thing for Ringo. I like noses.
ReplyDeleteRingo!
ReplyDeleteI've loved the Beatles since I was 7 (so 1974). Always liked George the best.
ReplyDeleteI'm partial to John myself. I like my men dark and brooding. But, I must agree with you, she looks great for 51, and he's still got it going on. I hope that they make each other happy, marriage is hard, so lets hope they are willing to do the work required.
ReplyDeleteI'd go for Ringo! (I'm with Sara on this - noses). I don't think the ex wife was so evil, but then I don't know the full story! Good luck to the newlyweds and she looks awfully good for 51! In fact she looks awfully good for 35! (money can keep you surprisingly fresh!)
ReplyDeleteGeorge. Obv. I took a Beatles class in college and I just love his voice. We would sit around and listen to songs and I just realized how many of his songs were MY songs. I really hope it works out for him, no one wants to be alone!
ReplyDeleteI love that she got married in a gorgeous suit, which was classy and age appropriate, rather than in some puffy dress suited for a young woman. No mutton dressed as lamb for this lady!
ReplyDeleteI don't care for the Beatles or their music. With a couple of exceptions (Eleanor Rigby in particular) I find their songs boring, uninspiring and just dull for me. I know most people don't agree with me :P
