Okay, so I've been the 16-year old girl trying to look sassy. Now, I'm her 38-year old mother trying to re-claim youth and look stylish. Mom's outfit is a little snazzy -- but not too much. Don't want to go crazy... :)
Ha! I like your take on this, Ally! I was still young when I was 38 - many years ago!
I love the pieces in this outfit, but I have to say, I feel like the top half and the bottom half have different tones. The top reads more casual to me, and the bottom has sort of that va-va-voom sexpot (I love that side of your looks, by the way).
For me, I would do the top with skinny jeans and over-the-knee boots, and I'd do the bottom a longer tunic-type of style (maybe belted?).
I love love LOVE that you are continuously pushing your fashion limits, always trying new things, and I admire your willingness to put yourself - your REAL self - out there for, yes, judgment. I am honoured to be a small part of your journey.
I'm not wild about the top (the print creates a really "wide" look), but I did have a revelation: That top from your "Opening the Door" post would look AWESOME with the rest of this outfit! (At least, in my head it does. That's not always so reliable...)
Agreeing with Cara, age is just a number! I think you went for a very classic look. I was obsessed with zebra print a couple years ago (I've since realized animal prints aren't really analogous with the rest of my wardrobe, but I still love zebra!) I also really admire your ability to style white clothing. I always struggle with it, but you make it look effortless.
I know I already said this over Twitter, but I really love this outfit! It's so polished and put-together. The crisp white pairs perfectly with the printed top. I have seen the black and white color combo everywhere today. I might just have to give it a shot tomorrow, it's just so classic.
Very classy! I would have belted the top, though, preferably with a red belt to pick up the bangle's color. And yes, age is just a number. I felt like a grumpy 40-year-old for most of my life and I've only become younger in the past few years :)
Age is definitely just a number. Look at me and Kayla, I am the mom, but I dress for my age, but still youthful. I love this sweater and your white pumps :)
Hee hee! You look like the "fun mom" who lets her kids watch R rated movies and always has cookies in the house. I agree with everyone else that age is just a number. Your outfits are exciting and youthful. No one wants to be the boring soccer mom in sweatpants.
Now now, age is just a number!

Isn't it great we can explore different "sides" of ourselves thru fashion. I love the outfit, it is very polished and ladylike.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a pretty amazing 'desperate housewives' interpretation. I think you need a big statement necklace to 'pull it together'.
ReplyDeleteI think I like the 16 year old girl outfits more! Maybe it's because I'm a sassy gal. This is nice, but I like it when you go crazy! Sky's the limit!
ReplyDeleteOh. And I agree. Age is just a number. Yeah. I dress like a 90 year old crazy cat lady on some days. And I'm fine with that.
Cute outfit! You have such versatile style! And now I want a pair of sassy white heels. Hehe. ;)
ReplyDeletePS. Left you a lengthy comment on your last post! xoxo
I like this one! I like the addition of the red bracelets. Do you wear earrings? I think some big red button earrings would look fab with this.
ReplyDeletei think this is a great look. i like that you kept it simple except for the zebra print. otherwise there might be too much going on.
ReplyDeleteNicely done.
ReplyDeleteAND NOT EVERYONE can pull off white heels. You certainly can.

ReplyDeleteToo young to be a mother darling! But I love the outfit anyway! And the pop of red!
ReplyDeleteI love that top! Animal print is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI love the scenario. You look fabulous. I'm just now catching up on all your posts!!
