Blogger Meetup

Have you ever had one of those magical evenings when everything sparkles?  I did tonight.  I had the rare opportunity to meet the lovely Tracy of The Closet Shopper.  Tracy traveled from her home in California to visit New York City with hubby Ian.  They make a terrific couple and will celebrate their 21st Anniversary tomorrow.

Robin and I went into the City to dine with Tracy and Ian at a delicious vegetarian restaurant called Red Bamboo.  Tracy and Ian have been vegetarians for over 20 years and they selected a great place to eat.

The night was magical.  As wonderful as I had thought Tracy was from her blog and our e-mail, she proved herself even more extraordinary during our three-hour dinner.  Her kindness and vivacious spirit were on glorious display as she charmed us with tales of the aerial artistry she performs, professional baseball players she knows and her interesting personal history.  Ian rivaled Tracy with his amusing stories about music and odd encounters.  The two are fun companions.

Tracy wore a beautiful long dress (with pockets!) that was expertly accessorized by lots of pretty jewelry.  Normally, she's 5'2" but, wearing chic Michael Kors platform-heels, she was about 6 feet tall. :)

Tracy is one of those rare people whom you fervently want to befriend.  Let me give you an example why.  In addition to presenting me tonight with a nice gift of OPI Miami Beet nail-polish, Tracy gave me something incredibly thoughtful -- a vote of confidence.  She remembered how I once commented on her blog that a big hat she wore was delightful but that I couldn't pull off such an extravagant fashion-gesture.  Tonight, she presented me with a big hat of my own and encouragement to wear it.  Tracy offered more than an object, she offered a vote of confidence -- something a kind, generous person would do.  What's better than that?!!

Here are some photos from tonight...

  14. Yay! I'm sadly missing out on blogger meet-ups because I don't travel much (at least not to blogger-populated areas, or with time and connections to spare...) You should definitely wear the hat.

  18. How nice. I am always so jealous of blogger meet-ups and hope I was in a city where such things took place. Heck I would even drive to LA if such thing took place there but not to my knowledge yet. Although they might then figure out how I am most likely 15+ years older than most of them!
You obviously have made some great friends. Just shows you the power of Internet.
