Afterthoughts

My last post was a big one.  Months in the making, lots of anticipation, then high excitement.  And the whole experience went smoothly.

I'm still basking in the glow of that experience.  Plus, your many kind comments amplify my joy.

Do you know how when you paint your fingernails and then later remove the polish, a little residue hides in the rim of your nail?  Well, I have that -- and I'm not going to dig it out because I enjoy seeing it there as a fond reminder of my happy day.  It's not really noticeable to anyone unless they look closely and nobody does.

There were two luxuries in my prom post that you may not have realized.  The first is that the pictures were taken outdoors.  That's a big deal to me.  Normally, I don't have the opportunity to shoot outdoors.  The second is that the photos were taken by someone other than me and my tripod.  That was a treat.

Returning to ordinary outfit posts -- indoors, taken by myself -- may seem a letdown after the prom post, but we'll give it a try.  :)

Yesterday, I was walking past an expensive clothing store (where I never shop because I can't afford their clothes) when I spotted a rack outside on the street with discounted items.  A ruffly top called my name.  Normally $69, it was on sale for $9.  Score!

I thought it'd look great with some white capris and heels, so here's what I came up with.  Your thoughts, as always, are invited.

  3. I LOVE the white capris. I know they necessarily aren't the main focus of this post, but they totally have won me over. Totally. And they look comfy, too!

Being able to take photos outdoors and having someone else to actually take them are little luxuries for us bloggers! I also truly appreciate being able to take my photos outside and not freeze my ass off...so, clearly, summer is quite the treat for me!

  5. Oh I am loving the ruffles!! The white makes it perfect for summer and you can layer it with a cardi for a fall look :)

I really like that necklace on you, pretty!

  6. That is so cute! I love the capris (I had ones like that in 1982!) and the red top. I can't resist ruffles. It would be cute with a jacket or cardi over as well.

  7. You're so boldly experimenting with color and orange is definitely one of your favored shades. :) BTW does it feel difficult walking in heels like that. I'm only asking because I find it incredibly difficult so I'd appreciate any special tips you may be able to share.

  9. Tashrin, it was only difficult in the beginning and then I got used to them. Now, I find it easy. Most of it has to do with balance and posture.

  10. Thanks, Francy. I got these from Zappos ($39). They're super-comfy.

  12. This worked out to be a great combo. You could have also gone with an unexpected pop of color on your heels but whites also work.

  14. I love that ruffle top, I'd have snapped that up in an instant. You need to change your name to Boldbiker, no shy person could wear orange as fabulously as you do. x

  16. $9?? That's fantastic. And I love the ruffle. You look so summery and cheery, like you're ready to spend the day strolling through the town!

  17. Nicely done A !
I am totally off the subject but would love to see you with longer and lighter colored hair.... have you considered it ?

  18. That bright color with those bright white capri is perfect. I love it. The necklace is a really night touch as well. I would wear some wedge sandals with that outfit to keep it summer-y and casual. But if I wore pumps, I would throw on a blazer. Just a thought.

You know that I think you can do no wrong. Much love to you.

    xoxo,
    Tracy

  19. This is such a great summertime outfit- the bright orange top paired with the capris is perfection! It would look great with a shorter necklace(like a choker) as well! I think it's great you took your prom photos outside- really a big step for you and they turned out beautifully!

  20. You are a beautiful person. You are brave and I love it that you express yourself rather than inhibit your style!! I feel inspired by you to shed my inhibitions and take more risks. Thank you.

I am a big fan of patent leather and love the shoes! You look gorgeous!

  21. These are wonderful colours mixed together. God almighty those heels? I LOVE them, you look happy and fab! :)

  22. I love the colors, but I would shorten the top to the bottom of the ruffle, so there isn't that non-ruffled space below it.

Alone, the top doesn't make you look curvier. I would love to see a long loose cardi over it.

  24. A very cute top, and well-combined. I've been making strapless summer tops with a similar silhouette but no ruffles. Thinking of adding some to the next top I make!
