New Art

I believe creative effort is the highest form of human achievement. For that reason -- and despite my visual impairments -- I've resumed collecting fine art. I choose to support living artists who usually don't receive deserved economic compensation.

Two talented young artists recently showed me work I admire. One (Ian Dawson) is a glass artist in Ohio who previously worked in metal. Ian has a bright idea to combine the dual materials in strikingly beautiful sculptures. Here are two works I just acquired from him.

  1. They are both stunning pieces, Ally! The first one in particular definitely speaks to me. I'm glad you are able to continue to enjoy these fine arts despite your visual impairments. xxx

    1. Thank you, Ann. It's important to do whatever we can to stay happy in spite of our obstacles. Best wishes!

  2. The other side of "creative effort is the highest form of human achievement" is that oppressed creativity is the source of much violence and malignancy.

  3. I love both of these pieces. Movement and color are both incredible. They mix both delicate and strong materials. They're incredible pieces. I'm glad you've been able to return to your passions of art!

    1. You're right about the attributes of this work. They apeal to me for those reasons. I'm glad, too, that I'm able (barely) to enjoy visual art.
