We'll remember this year, distinctly, as a time when our primary focus was "stayin' alive." Which led me to re-consider the lyrics of that classic song:
You're stayin' alive, stayin' alive
Feel the city breakin' and everybody shakin'
And we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive
Life goin' nowhere, somebody help me
Somebody help me, yeah
Life goin' nowhere, somebody help me, yeah
I'm stayin' alive
Such a great song! How about "In the City" by Joe Walsh, from "The Warriors" (still a guilty pleasure for me - I love that movie).
ReplyDeleteSomewhere out there on that horizon
Out beyond the neon lights
I know there must be somethin' better
But there's nowhere else in sight
It's survival in the city
When you live from day to day
City streets don't have much pity
When you're down, that's where you'll stay
Terrific!
DeleteHere in AZ where we completely lost control of the Virus, the Stayin' Alive routine is getting more complex by the day!
ReplyDeleteI heard that. My brother-in-law's family lives in Tucson so we pay attention to your state.
DeleteIt's amazing how many lyrics seem to be apt for these times, Stayin' Alive being a case in point. xxx
ReplyDeleteYup.
DeleteAh! Ah! Ahhh! Staying aliiiiive.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a personal hell.
Sorry, hon. Hang in there.
DeleteI've seen this movie hundreds of times. I love it!
ReplyDeleteDoing my very best to stay alive here between WI and MN. Too many people acting like there is no virus. It's a scary time.
ReplyDeleteYup. Hang in there.
DeleteProfoundly true. While we're very fortunate that BC has not (yet?) been hit as brutually as many parts of the world (let alone various corners of Canada), it still sends a distinct chill down my spine, no matter how many times it happens, when I see people with no outwardly visible regard for the risks of the pandemic.
ReplyDeleteAnd with each mask-less face, cluster of strangers, or non-essential business that reopens, I brace all the more for future waves that may still wash up upon the shores of each of our lives.
