Who says you have to go out to eat well?
My favorite appetizer, which I made and consumed tonight, is Smoked Salmon Caviar (from the terrific
Salmon Sisters company) with capers and sour cream on Carr's crackers. It's a medley of intense flavors coming together in an orgasm of sensory delight.
Whew!
It's orange!!!! Why did I think Caviar was black!?! Oh, unless, because it is Salmon rather than Sturgeon?! It's very pretty. Not sure how I'd feel about eating it but I'd give it a try if I were at someone's house and I could try a tiiiiny piece!
ReplyDeleteCaviar comes in several colors: black, orange and red, for instance.

ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteOh, that looks amazing! I love the salty pop of caviar, but I rarely have it. Carr's are the best for delicate toppings like this.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, they're the best crackers.
DeleteI'm so picky, I'm not sure I could eat this. BUT I know my brother loves cavier!
ReplyDeleteSo just look at how pretty it is!
DeleteWhat a fantastic meal. Salty, squishy, crunchy, brine-y, creamy, cooling - it has it all and suits these days of very-nearly-summer to a tee.

Yup. And the ease of preparation is important this time of year.
DeleteSO LOVELY! I only have caviar as "roe" in Asian restaurants, but I can call up a mental flavor profile from this post. I know these have to be tasty.
ReplyDeleteDifferent caviar/roe taste different. This one is nice: briny but not too salty, smooth and with a pleasant flavor.
DeleteThis sounds absolutely delicious! I haven't been very adventurous with my food recently but I would really like to do it and branch out more, and this looks perfect!
ReplyDeleteCulinary adventures are fun!
