There are several reasons, the primary being I haven't felt like doing them. Life suddenly seems too serious, too dangerous. I couldn't get in the mood for a photoshoot. These efforts take a lot of work and I wasn't up to the labor.
This week I finally felt differently. I broke out my camera and shot a new outfit. The impetus for the outfit are the pants which I found for $19 in a supermarket, of all places. There was a rack hidden in a corner that nobody was paying attention to. I love the bold graphic and the low price.
My goal is to have fun. To cast off the mental weight of the virus and just have fun. What are you doing to handle the pandemic?
Oh my goodness you look lovely - mostly because you smile is shining.
ReplyDeleteI love those trousers, I'd definitely wear those :)
ReplyDeleteOne size fits all! Say the word and I'll mail them.
DeleteThe smile says it all! I love those kinds of finds, too. I've been meditating, practicing yoga, and writing in my journal daily - and it's become a must-have every day.
ReplyDeleteThanks! And you're making good choices for these times.
DeleteA gorgeous and playful outfit, Ally. I'm glad you finally took the plunge. Although I haven't been in the mood for many things during the pandemic, dressing up is still very much on the agenda. It really does make one feel better! xxx
ReplyDeleteIndeed. I think the dam has been broken for that activity.
DeleteIt's so good to see your smiling face! I love the pants. I've long been a fan of printed pants. I think this is one of your most successful "blogger" outfits to date. Pattern mixing, textures, a great sleeve!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a rough three months with each day being more serious and paralyzing than the last. I think it's okay to step back and take a moment of 'normalcy' or even something that makes you personally happy.
Thanks! And yes, times have been tough. We need "to step back and" do things that make us happy. For two months I haven't wanted to give myself permission to be happy; now, I'm tired of that. Life's too short not to be happy.
DeleteI ADORE those pants, Ally! You look fabulous in this and it would make a perfect party outfit! I'm glad you are getting dressed up again, and practicing this self-care. I was musing today whether people would be reminded of how fun and how good it feels to get dressed up, and if that might even see an increase vs. athleisure.
ReplyDeleteThanks, pal. I knew you'd like these. And you're right about "how good it feels to get dressed up."
DeleteAwesome sauce. What a great find! The entire look is grand.
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite random non-food purchase at the grocery store was "Perfumes, the Guide" by Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez. I picked it up in the book bargain bin at a store in Showlow, AZ!
I know the virus certainly made me want to step back and take a break. Glad to see that you're back and I love the look. Can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteLove it! The bright eyeshadow is such a great contrast to the black and white. Glad to see you doing something you really enjoy again.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulously fun outfit, Ally! I especially adore the bell sleeved lace top (which I wish I one of hanging in my closet, too!). So true about some grocery (and drug) stores being great places to find clothing and accessories. I've picked up a number of items over the years from such spots, many of which were reduced down to 75% or more of their original sticker price.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing a new outfit with us. The unbridled joy that radiates from your smile in your outfit photos never fails to make me smile in turn.

I never expected to find anything worth wearing in a supermarket. Proves me wrong. There's lots to cis-gender life I don't know.
DeleteGroovy pants!! :)
ReplyDeleteIn March and April.. I just reposted a lot of stuff I had previously photographed and filmed. After that, I had online cocktail parties with my friends.. so that was a reason to dress up. :)
And during the actual summer, I went outside again.. while being careful and responsible. Hopefully, we won't get a second wave!
I hope not. Good for you to stay active.
