Journey To The Past

When most people hear "vintage", they think of the 1950s. But blogger and fellow-giant Gracey gave me a dress that looks back even further. It evokes the styles of the 1940s.

I think the dress is pretty. And if we're going back to that period, let's do it right -- seamed stockings!

  13. Gorgeous dress! You really pull off a difficult color very well. And kudos on fitting into it--I have the hardest time finding vintage clothes that work with my waist!

Also, I got the book you sent in the mail and I can't wait to dive in! It's a fascinating topic and one that's been on my mind a lot lately, as I've recently dove headfirst into the wonderful world of makeup obsession :)

  15. Oh my gosh that's my fave color!! I loooove that style of dress. I would totally wear seamed stockings if it wasn't guaranteed I'd get a run before I even leave the house.

  18. Ooohh, chartreuse! Now there's a fantastic colour that we don't see anywhere near enough these days. I love when you delve into the past for your wardrobe inspiration and think you really knocked it out of the ballpark with this classic look, Ally.

    Happy Friday wishes,
    ♥ Jessica

*PS* Seamed stockings for the win always!

  19. The stockings make it. I love the midi-length dresses of the 30s and 40s fashion. That unique shape between the 20s flapper and the 50s housewife.

  20. You look very nice in this color and I think it's a tough one to do because it has a lot of yellow in it. The pleats in the front are such a nice detail and flatter your figure.
I think of green as a neutral. It looks great with all other colors found in nature. Maybe A vibrant jacket over it in cooler weather?
