I found this pretty dress at a thrift-store, in brand-new condition, for $8. I added a $2 string of gold garland as a quasi-necklace to bring holiday color into the ensemble.
The centerpiece is a splurge -- as a Christmas present to myself, I bought a new pair of shoes. Retail! Well, discounted actually but from a real store, not thrifted. Nobody has ever worn these puppies before. I saw them while shopping for gifts in Nordstrom Rack. Nordstrom is the only major retailer I know which carries large ladies' shoes. They go up to size 13. (I'm a 12.) The shoes are from Jessica Simpson and their platform heels make me seven feet tall.
Wearing this outfit makes me smile. Do you have a holiday outfit yet?
Holyamazeballs those are incredible shoes. A perfect holiday look!
ReplyDeleteThat hair! And your sparkly accessories! This is perfect for Christmas. You look lovely <3

What a lively, festive look! Gotta love some sparkle... :-)
ReplyDeleteWhoa, Baby!! You look gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteOkay...now I need to put together something red with glittery gold. I'm heading to my closet right now. :)
It's a festive color-combination that reminds us of Christmas.
DeleteOh my those shoes are spectacular! So wonderful you treated yourself.
ReplyDeleteNo holiday outfits yet...but I'm starting to think about it after seeing your sparkly version.

I hope I've inspired you!
DeleteWoo! Love the shoes, baby! You look absolutely fabulous - you can totally come to my party!
ReplyDeleteI'll be right there!
DeleteYou are rocking those shoes! I like that they're sparkly, yet the shade is almost a nude on you (well, at least according to the color on my screen) - so flattering. Your whimsical necklace is also a winner.
ReplyDeleteIn real-life, the shoes are a light gold color.
DeleteI can feel that scratchy tinsel around my neck! Although it looks so cute.
ReplyDeleteYour hair also has a golden gleam on top. Those shoes break my toes just looking at them! But they are very festive. I hope you get to wear this outfit for real.
I am in the middle of hand sewing a silver and black loose caftan style dress. Hopefully it will be cool enough for our sweaty Christmas. Xo Jazzy Jack
The garland is, in fact, scratchy. And my toes do, in fact, feel pinched. But there's no length to which I wouldn't go for women's fashion!
DeleteGorgeous shoes! A great gift to yourself. And that dress is excellent on you.
ReplyDeleteUsually I dress very conservatively but you've been helping me think about what I'd wear if I wasn't editing my choices so much. So I'm going to think about your question at length and see what surprises come to the surface!
Experiment! Try new things. If you like a look, adopt it; if you don't, don't repeat it. No harm in trying.
DeleteLOVE the shoes! i think i wanted those, too! so perfect for the holidays + jessica simpson shoes are pretty comfortable to me. you are all set for this party season!
ReplyDeleteThe shoes are surprisingly comfortable for their height. Walking in them, they feel as stable as wedges.
DeleteWoohoo! Love the whole outfit! The shoes, of course are amazing but that dress is pretty special too.

I agree about the dress. And it's one of very few clothes I have that actually fits me right. Perfect size, with stretch in all the right places.
Deleteyou look amazing! It's perfect for Christmas - I though of wearing something alike for the holiday
ReplyDeleteMakes me smile too, Ally. the shoes are TDF, worth the splurge. xox

Those shoes are ADORABLE! I have to say, Jessica Simpson really has some cute clothes--love everything about this look :) You look stunning. XOXO and hope you had a very happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is my idea of Christmas outfit, you know, I love a red dress and this one is so girly and flirty, love it with those heels ! Thumbs up my friend ! Maybe my red nail polish would suit you, too ? :-) Kisses

Perfect suggestion. I love nail-polish.
DeleteLove the Color and Damn, I Wish I had your legs! *Winks* Merry Christmas... Dawn... The Bohemian
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous for three reasons: one I can't fit my feet into Jessica Simpson shoes, two those amazing legs you have, and three you found a great pair of shoes on sale. Good job. I also love the dress.
ReplyDeleteyou and those LEGS>>> I'm so envious.. hot stuff.. great dress and those shoes are pretty flirty if you ask me :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty and fun Christmas outfit! I love how you are always finding the best thrifted finds! That dress is perfect and so festive!

What a cracking pair of pins in that festive red dress! What a great find the dress is. You're so brave with those heels. I wouldn't be able to stand in them! As to holiday outfits I have a Christmas jumper at the ready for Christmas day! Does that count????
ReplyDeletehttp://petitesilvervixen.blogspot.co.uk/
Sure it does.
DeleteThose shoes are one amazing thing but can we talk about your gorgeous legs?????
ReplyDeletePERFECTLY festive. You make that dress look smashing! I'm trying to decide what to wear to my workplace holiday party, which I help plan. The last few years we've allowed the treat of jeans so I'll probably actually be dressed down instead of up, but I might wear a fancy top. (Or I might wear my ginormous thrifted cat sweater...)
ReplyDeleteLOVE! what time is the party? ;) those shoes make me so happy.
ReplyDeleteRed dress for Christmas day- LOVE it AND season appropriate as has sleeves! Your legs do look hot, re above comment!
ReplyDeleteThe shoes, whilst too high for me, are so preetty! My feet are only one size smaller than you- I think I am a US 11!!!!x
WOW Ally ! this look is stunning. I'd wear this in a heartbeat.
ReplyDeleteI have no plans for Christmas, even less of an outfit.
Ally you look hot! Love the tinsel as necklace, the dress is perfection, and the shoes were worth the splurge! Gosh you can shop! Gazelle legs!
ReplyDeleteGush.

Such a pretty dress!!!! I own those shoes and absolutely adore JS!! However, the shoes only make me a hair over 5ft tall. LOL!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous Christmas outfit, Ally! Red + gold are so dazzling together. I love your shoes and have a fairly similar pair myself, which I wore for my Xmas Day outfit last year. Chances are, they'll resurface during this holiday season, too. How can they not when they suit this shimmeringly lovely time of the year so well. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
♥ Jessica
The shape of that dress is very good for you. The shoes (wow) go so well with the scarf. Ever such a nice Christmas outfit.
ReplyDeleteYou did well.
