Lions, and tigers, and bears! Oh, my!

Have you ever stumbled upon a pair of shoes so lovely you had to have them? I just did. Browsing a thrift-store, I saw these beauties for only $4.99. I couldn't resist even though I have no idea how to style them and, honestly, they're too small for me but I play through the pain.

What famous movie do these shoes remind you of? Okay, that's an easy one. Do you have a favorite quotation from that movie?

"Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas any more. [pause] We must be over the rainbow!"

  1. Oh man! These are beauties! When I was young I went as Dorothy two years in a row for Halloween--mainly so I could wear the shoes!

Hope you're having a great week so far!

  6. GAH!!! I want these! : ) How fun! They remind me of my red boots that I have to squeeze my feet into but I bought them anyhow.

If you are in the right state of mind these should go with everything.

They are like Palmolive in the old days..."Take me away!"

  10. I do believe those really are dance shoes, Ally. And since not everyone in the chorus get to be Dorothy, my guess is they're supposed to peek out from a deep red maxi skirt when the dancer does a flouncy turn -- and the usual black satin shoes would appear too much 'tango'. OK, what have you got that's a deep true red velvet or a very dark green satin? Something fun to wear to "The Nutcracker"?

  11. Dorothy Shoes! Princess T has an infatuation with such shoes that at one time we had a Collection of them in various colors! *LOL* They are great Prancing around in Shoes even if you never find a Wardrobe to match them enough to use them in everyday Life. I have some Middle Eastern Exotic Slippers like that which I just Prance around the house in, they remind me of Aladdin and they are Works of Art in the Craftsmanship that has gone into them. I was Fortunate enough to find some Children's Slippers very similar and often just put them both in Vignettes too because I like the way they look. Blessings from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... I don't think I'd ever go for uncomfortable (too small) pair of shoes myself but it looks just stunning!

  13. They are really cool! If there were mine, I think I would wear them with some jeans and a white oversized shirt. But of course my style is different from yours... so I am excited to see how you will style them :)
    Have a great day!

  14. Thoroughly awesome red glitter shoes! Interestingly, I thrifted a pair myself earlier this year, however they're not my size or anywhere near it. They're for a super young (3 - 5 months, I'd estimate) baby and were only $1.00. I don't have any wee ones to put them on the feet of, but at that size, they make for darling decor and that's exactly what I've done with on one of our bookshelves. For that price and with such an abundance of pretty ruby red glitter, there was no way I could pass them up.

    Have a terrific week!

  19. Believe it or not I thought of Bonnie Franklin fist. I have a DVD called "I hate to exercise I love to Tap" and in it she's wearing red glittery heeled tap shoes with blue socks during the video. I want red glitter tap shoes now - er well all I have to do is glitterize mine since they're an ugly nude color that could really use some sprucing up.

  20. Those look so fun! They do seem like tap shoes as Hollie above me has said. I could only wear them as part of a costume, as normally I run from sparkle, but it would be hella-fun to be in that costume for awhile. The style of the shoe is my favourite. I love love love the mary-jane or t-strap styles that I associate with the flappers, the thirties and early forties too. I sure wish I had your gorgeous legs! xoxoxo
