When Is Summer Over?

Several of my favorite bloggers took off for the Summer. (I'm lookin' at you, Two Birds.) Instead of entertaining us with unpaid work, they're lounging on beaches, visiting new places and yelling at their kids to stop eating sand. I miss them. (The bloggers, not the kids.)

When will be Summer over? When will my blogfeed fill up with pretty outfits and light banter?

I just planned a trip to Niagra Falls for a month from now. I've learned from experience that the best time to go to a tourist location is AFTER children have returned to school and before the cold of Winter arrives. That way you get the lingering warmth of the season without the crowds of children. Sept-Oct is ideal.

Have you ever been to Niagra Falls? I'm going to spend time on the Canadian side 'cause I love Canada and still have some plastic money from Vancouver. I hear the Falls are the most popular attraction in their entire country. There are some cool things to do that I plan to explore.

P.S., These cool shoes aren't new but I like wearin' 'em.

  2. This is such a cute post :) I will be gone in October but during this vacation I am free to keep posting three times a week, as usual. In October, however, I will not have internet for two weeks. That will be difficult I think :)

Thanks a lot for your last comment : )

  3. Summer is over for me when the last baseball is pitched at the last professional ball park. But I digress...

Niagra Falls-would love to see it and hope you will share your experience here.

And yes, you and I agree on the right months to travel...after the kiddies are safe in school! LOL

  4. I can't believe you didn't wear these fabulous shoes at our meet-up. Oh, wait, you probably thought one of us would talk you into swapping them, haha. Since I no longer work (as in having to show up to work everyday at certain hours) I can travel whenever at all times of the year. So, I'm with you on waiting for the crowds to disperse. My plan is to see the falls the first of October also, I've been bugging my husband daily to book our trip. I also have some Canadian money left in my wallet so it's the perfect excuse.

  6. I almost miss tights weather seeing these pics, but I'm not ready to go yet of warm weather. I have been to Niagara Falls when I was 13 on both sides the American and Canadian but just for a day. We did the Lady of the Mist and it was awesome. I still remember how beautiful it was and how fast the water was moving.

    1. That's what I remember from my visit as a child -- how immensely powerful the water is.

  7. Gorgeous gams, gorgeous shoes!

I saw Niagara Falls from the US side for the first time May 2014 and was mesmerized. Did not go out on the Observation Deck because I'm TOO THRIFTY! Nor did I ride the Lady of the Mist. The Canadians have their own boat service, btw. I hear the Canadian side is WAY better. Are you going to stay in one of the hotels that edge the Falls? So you can see them 24/7? My idea of awesome.
Sept-Oct will get you in Upstate NY during apple season! Will you be meandering through the Finger Lakes region? They also have wineries.
    So. Many. Questions. Haha.

    1. Yes, the Canadian side is better and that's where I'm staying. My hotel has a view of the Falls. I didn't mind paying extra for that. I love fresh apples and cider.

  10. Love your Mary Janes Ally. We travelled to Paris in August - what a crazy time. Tourists, children, chaos. I'm with you, travel after school goes back.

  12. Those are amazing shoes. I've never been to Niagra Falls, but they are beautiful! I watched a show called Wonderfalls. It's like an early incarnation of Pushing Daisies (by the same guy! Bryan Fuller also did Dead Like Me). It takes place in the area around Niagra Falls.

  18. Those shoes are fabulous!!!! Niagra Falls...been there waaaayyy too many times. It was the place where everyone wanted to go whenever they'd come to visit. Ha! I'm going to say that you should definitely head over to Niagra on the Lake, check in to a lovely bed and breakfast and explore wine country a bit....it's absolutely wonderful there!

  20. I've done Niagara from the Canadian side. Definitely do the Maids in the Mist boat trip. You get drenched but oh my, it's the best way to see the Falls. The noise is quite thunderous and you really appreciate the power of them. And yes, agree with StyleOnTheSide, do head up to Niagara on the Lake. If you like theatre you have to go to the Shaw Festival http://www.shawfest.com/. They have productions running through to the end of October. Sept/Oct is a lovely time of year to go on holiday - no school kids!

  21. I adore the shoes and the fact that you are planning to visit my neck of the woods with some plastic money : )
